You can never have enough little bags! Have fun
creating this little zipper pouch with appliqd
accents on the bottom and see how easy it is to
insert a zipper, using your portable Janome
sewing machine.
Skill: Confident Beginner
Time: 1 hour
Janome Supplies Required:
• Portable Sewing machine
• Power cord
• Foot control
Fabrics/Notions required:
• 1/2 yd. print fabric for pouch
• 1/2 yd. solid fabric for lining
• 1/4 yd. fabric for bag bottom accents
• 1/2 yd. fusible interfacing light weight
• 12” zipper to match fabric
• Thread to match fabrics
• Fabric glue stick
• Straight pins
• Seam ripper
Let’s Get Started:
1. Fuse interfacing to wrong side of printed fabric
according to manufacturers directions.
2. Cut two pieces that are 10” square.
3. From the solid fabric (lining) cut two 10” square.
4. Cut template out and trace 4 pieces onto the
accent fabric. Cut out accent fabric.
5. Using a fabric glue stick, put some glue on the
wrong side of the accent fabric and place on the
bottom corners of the front and back bag pieces.
6. Once the glue has dried, select a straight or a
zig-zag stitch and sew the curved section of
accent fabric with matching thread.
7. Repeat until all four accent pieces are appliquéd
in place.
8. With the right sides together, pin the top edge of
the fabric together.
