Dropping the Feed Dog q The feed dog can be lowered by the drop feed lever for sewing on buttons, manual embroidery etc. Push the drop feed lever to the right to lower the feed dog. Raising and Lowering the Presser Foot The presser foot lifter raises and lowers the presser foot. Changing the Needles z WARNING: Turn OFF the power switch before changing the needle. z Loosen the needle cramp screw and pull out the needle. x Insert a new needle into the needle cramp with the flat side facing back. Automatic Needle Threader z z Raise the needle to its highest position by pressing the needle Up/Down button twice. Raise the presser foot. Depress the needle threader knob as far as it will go. The hook comes out through the needle eye from behind. q Needle threader knob w Hook x Draw the thread down around the threader guide and under the hook. e Threader guide c Release the threader knob slowly while holding the thread end with your hand. A loop of the thread is pulled up through the needle eye.

NOTE: To fasten the beginning of the seams, sew several reverse stitches by pressing the reverse stitch button, or use pattern #03 (Lock-a-Matic stitch ).

Using Walking Foot (Even foot) This is a special attachment for hard-to-feed materials. This foot prevents the fabric from slipping or puckering by feeding fabrics with upper and lower feed dogs. Even foot is great for fine fabrics, knits, leather and matching plaids. z z Turn off the switch. x Raise the needle and presser foot. c Loosen the setscrew and remove the foot holder (Refer to page 14). v Attach even foot to the presser bar with the lever above the needle cramp, and secure it with the setscrew.

Automatic Buttonhole There are three different types of buttonhole available.

Depress the foot control and sew the buttonhole over the cord.

PROBLEMS AND WARNING SIGNALS When beep sounds and the LED display shows warning signal, follow the guidance below to deal with.
