CLEANING GLASS SURFACES
CLEANING ALUMINUM SURFACES
GENERAL CLEANING
Preparecleaningsolution(1tspbabyshampootoonegallonof
wateror1-1/2cupsvinegartoonegallonofwater).
1.Rinsesurfacewithcleanwaterfromtoptobottom.
2. Clean with mild soap and water and sponge or soft brush
with uniform pressure horizontally, then vertically.
Note! Quickly rinse and dry any run-down. Don’t allow
cleaning solutions to collect or puddle on surfaces,
crevices, etc.
3.Promptlyrinsethoroughlywithcleanwater(sponging
whilerinsingmaybehelpful;donotallowcleaning
solutiontodryonthesurface).
4.Wipedrywithlint-free,drycloth.
5. If necessary, repeat steps above until clean.
6.Drywindowframeandsillwithseparatecloth.
STUBBORNSTAINREMOVAL
For stubborn stains, commercial glass cleaning products may
be necessary.
• Applysmallamountdirectlytothestain.Avoidspillingor
dripping down the glass.
• Somepersistentstainsmayneedhigherstrengthcleaning
solutions that contain active ingredient chemicals such as
toluene,xylene,mineralspiritsornaphtha.Specialcare
must be taken when using these types of cleaners.
• Foroilandgrease:trybakingsodaandwaterorwashing
soda and water.
• Rinsethoroughlywithcleanwateranddry.
PAINTREMOVAL
1.Soakdriedlatexpaintdripswithwarmwaterandbaby
shampoo solution.
2.Wipewithdampclothorsponge.
If needed,
3.Scrapegentlywithplasticputtyknife.Repeatsoakand
scrape.
4. Repeat if necessary.
Note! For oil-based paint drips, consult local paint professional.
LABELREMOVAL
Slowly peel from one corner. If label tears or sticks, moisten
with soapy water and gently scrape with plastic putty knife.
Stubborn labels can be soaked with soapy water and covered
overnight with plastic wrap. Gently remove with plastic putty
knife.

Aluminum windows usually have either a “baked-on” enamel
nish or an anodized protective nish. Inspect aluminum
surfaces for scratches or cracks in the nish. Pay close
attentiontobarealuminum(edgesandweepholes)andareas
of no nish.
Barealuminumwilloxidizeovertime.Oxidationisanatural
occurrence that produces a coating that wipes off as a dark,
metallic-lookingresidue.Toremoveoxidation:
1.Gentlyremovewithnescratchpadorsteelwool;donot
scratch nished surfaces.
2. Dust or vacuum residue and wipe clean with damp cloth.
Foroptimumprotectionagainstoxidation,applyacoatof
highqualitycarwaxovertheenameloranodizednish.
Tocleannishedorcoated(e.g.anodized)aluminumsurfaces:
1.Wipewithspongeandwater.
2. Dry with soft cloth.
If soil adheres:
1.Spongeorlightlybrushwithmildsoapywater.
2. Rinse and wipe dry with soft cloth.
For very stubborn soil:
1.Wipewithmildsolvent(mineralspirits)andacleansoft
cloth or non-abrasive nylon cleaning pad to remove
grease, sealant or caulking compounds.
2. Dry with separate clean cloth.
3.Cleanresiduewithsponge,mildsoapandwater,rinse
and let dry.
