1 - Introduction 1 1 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Jeppesen Workboat Navigator comes with copyright protected Professional+ Charts. These charts can only be accessed if you have purchased a license and have received a Product Security Key (also called an “eToken”). Workboat Navigator additionally comes with supplemental raster charts, River Distance Markers, River Estimated Time of Arrival calculators, Past Track Enhancements and much more.
Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide Product Security Key (eToken) 1 - Introduction 1 - Introduction The Product Security Key, also called an “eToken”, is a security-based USB device that works like a Serial Number. The Product Security Key authenticates your computer to the software, allowing you to view the charts you have purchased. Every time you use Workboat Navigator, the Product Security Key must be plugged into an available USB port on each computer running Workboat Navigator.
1 - Introduction Radar and the IR2-BB The Nobeltec® InSight Radar 2 - Black Box (IR2-BB)™ is a specially designed hardware component that converts the analog output from most existing industry-standard radars into a digital stream that can be used by Jeppesen Workboat Navigator. Jeppesen Workboat Navigator provides you with the tools to view radar transmissions received through the IR2-BB in a traditionally configured radar display on-screen or overlaid directly on top of your electronic charts.

2 - Installation 2 Before You Install Product Security Key (eToken) Each licensed copy of Jeppesen Workboat Navigator comes with a USB port device called a Product Security Key or an eToken. The eToken provides system verification that you are using a licensed copy of the software and NavData. Jeppesen Workboat Navigator will not open without an eToken. WARNING: Before you install the software, make sure that the Product Security Key (eToken) is not plugged into a USB port.

Click Finish to complete the install and reboot or run Chart Manager, as so selected.
12 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide STEP 2. Install Professional+ NavData Professional+ NavData Jeppesen Workboat Navigator comes with copyright protected Professional+ Charts and supplemental data. Supplemental data can only be accessed if you have purchased a license and have received and installed a Product Security Key (eToken). Professional+ Charts and data have been subdivided into regions for purchase and subscription purposes.
2 - Installation 13 15.Select the Professional+ database from the Selected database drop-down list. Figure 2.11 - Update via Internet NOTE: If you start the Update Wizard (Start | Program Files | Jeppesen Marine | Support Tools | Check for Updates) when no update is available, the wizard may look like it is running, but it gets stuck in a loop. You may have to shut down the Update Wizard using the Task Manager. The wizard only updates the Workboat Navigation application, not the NavData. 17.
14 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide STEP 3. Install Supplemental NavData To Install NavData 2 - Installation 2 - Installation 1. Repeat steps 3 through 9 for Supplemental NavData - Disc 2. 10.Store your NavData DVD(s) in a safe place.
16 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide STEP 4. Connect Hardware Multiple Input Devices You can select multiple COM ports for input, for example, a GPS to COM Port 1 and an AIS Transceiver device to COM Port 2. If you connect two devices which supply the same type of data, such as two GPS units, you must set up port priorities to tell the program how to handle multiple sets of similar data, or manually set up your NMEA devices using the GPS/Port Setup Wizard.
2 - Installation 17 Identify the Wires Data In (Receive), Data Out (Transmit) and Ground are three of the nine wires on a 9-pin serial connector. It is possible that your GPS cable will have more than three wires showing. Since there is no industry wire color standard other than pin numbers, you will need to refer to your GPS User's Guide to determine which wires to use.
18 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide How Does the IR2-BB Work? The Nobeltec® InSight Radar 2 - Black Box (IR2-BB)™ essentially "repeats" radar data from your radar to your onboard computer. Depending on your radar make and model, you may need to fine-tune the radar image. An advantage to using Jeppesen Workboat Navigator to view radar data is that you can continue to use your existing Radar plotter device for comparison and safety.
2 - Installation 19 IR2-BB Installation Changes Please Read Carefully The IR2-BB product package includes the Nobeltec® Insight™ Radar 2-Black Box Installation Guide. Please read that guide in its entirety before installing the IR2-BB.
20 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide **Replacement STEP 8: Select the Radar Antenna File** 2 - Installation 2 - Installation 1. When you restart your computer after completing the IR2-BB install, the SETTINGS - Xenex IntegRadar window opens. You can also open the IntegaRadar window by double-clicking IntegRadar Server.exe located in C:\Program Files\Jeppesen Marine\Workboat Navigator\RADAR. 2. Click the Antenna tab. Figure 2.18 - Antenna tab 3.
2 - Installation 21 Autopilot Setup Interfacing autopilot with Jeppesen Workboat Navigator provides you with a number of time-saving and ease-of-use benefits, including easier route planning and more precise options and adjustments. Settings Each autopilot requires that certain, specific information be provided by Jeppesen Workboat Navigator. Most autopilots follow the same basic principles of heading and cross track error.
22 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide NMEA Sentences Jeppesen Marine products support devices that conform to the National Marine Electronics Association (NMEA) 0813 standard. The following tables contain NMEA data sentences supported by Jeppesen Workboat Navigator: ARPA/MARPA NMEA SENTENCES NMEA NMEA Sentence Definition TLL Target Latitude and Longitude TTM Tracked Target Message Table 2.

If you do not plan to use a Radar and IR2-BB with Jeppesen Workboat Navigator, skip this step. WARNING: Most radar technical problems come from installing the IR2-BB incorrectly.
26 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide 5. The Radar Setup Wizard will search available serial, USB, and Ethernet ports on your computer for incoming information, including GPS and heading sensor data (Figure 2.21). 6. If a device is not detected by the Radar Setup Wizard, confirm all cable connections and that there is power to each device. Click Back and then Next to attempt to detect that device a second time. 7. When the IR2-BB is detected, click Next. 8.
2 - Installation 27 10.Use the Radar Control window to change your radar settings for fine-tuning. It may take a few minutes for any changes you make to be applied to the Radar Viewer for verification. Continue making small adjustments until you are satisfied with the radar output. NOTE: Changes made to IR2-BB connections occasionally do not accurately display in the Radar Viewer.
28 Jeppesen Workboat Navigator Installer’s Guide STEP 6. Start Workboat Navigator 2 - Installation 2 - Installation Once you have installed Jeppesen Workboat Navigator and installed and configured all hardware, you are now ready to display hardware-transmitted data on the target computer using Jeppesen Workboat Navigator. 4 4 - Customization 39 There are a number of changes you can make to customize Workboat Navigator for specific customers. This chapter provides an overview of a few of those changes. Some of these changes require an XML file editor, such as XML Notepad 2007. If you are not proficient editing XML files, we recommend that you call your Jeppesen Marine Deployment specialist to help you through this process. NOTE: XML files must always be edited with an XML editor (such as XML Notepad 2007 or XMLSpy).
