Testing the Connection
When you have connected one or more hardware devices to your computer,
you need to test the connections to verify that Jeppesen Workboat Navigator is
receiving NMEA data sentences from them. Jeppesen Marine provides a Port Test
tool (Start | All Programs | Jeppesen Marine | Port Test) to test connections.
There are 4 links in the Port Test used to attempt to connect to COM Ports 1
through 4 using Window's HyperTerminal program.
Many computers may have more than 4 COM Ports, specifically when using a
Serial-to-USB port adapter. Use the System Menu | Tools/Settings | Options |
Ports: Configure: View Data button to verify the data that is being received by
each additional COM Port.
