Introduction The JET 15-Inch 16-Speed Drill Presses and 20-Inch 12-Speed Drill Presses, Models J-2500, J-2530 and J-2550, feature rugged cast iron design with ground-steel columns for drilling accuracy in metal, wood, and plastic. The head casting features a ball bearing spindle assembly, supported by four permanently-lubricated, heavy duty ball bearings that are mounted in an enclosed quill for extended life. 2. Install the table bracket (A) together with the rack (B) as shown in Figure 2. Assembly Read and understand all assembly instructions before attempting assembly! Any grease or residue in these areas can cause the pieces to separate and create a safety hazard as well as damage to the tool.
Adjustment Chuck and Arbor Removal Depth Stop Adjustment Referring to Figure 9: Referring to Figure 10: 1. Unplug machine from the power source. To drill multiple holes at the same preset depth, use the depth stop: 2. Raise the table until it is about seven inches below the chuck. 1. Use a pencil to mark the depth the bit will drill into the workpiece. 3. Place a piece of scrap wood on the table, and lower quill (A) using the downfeed handle. 2.
6. Tighten two bar knobs (E, Fig. 11). Belts are properly tensioned when finger and thumb pressure midway between the two pulleys causes approximately ½” deflection. Changing Spindle Speeds A spindle speed and pulley/belt arrangement chart for all models is found on the inside of the pulley cover (D, Fig. 11). Refer to this chart whenever changing speeds. Note: The chart in Figure 12 is for models J-2500 and J-2530 only. To change spindle speeds: 1. Unplug the machine from the power source. 2.
Table Tilt Adjustment Positioning the Workpiece The table tilt adjustments are made on the table bracket under the table. Always place a piece of wood (or plywood) on the table. This will prevent "splintering" or making heavy burrs on the underside of the workpiece as the drill breaks through. The wood should contact the left side of the column. To tilt the table (refer to Figures 14 and 15): Using the Vise In the following steps do not over loosen.
Electrical 230 Volt Operation Grounding Instructions Referring to Figure 17: If 230V, single-phase operation is desired, the following instructions must be followed: This tool must be grounded while in use to protect the operator from electric shock. Disconnect the machine from the power source. The JET drill press motor has four numbered leads that are factory connected for 115V operation, as shown in (A). For 230V operation reconnect the leads as shown in (B).
Troubleshooting Trouble Drill press will not start. Drill press does not come up to speed. Drill Press vibrates excessively. Noisy Operation. Workpiece Burns. Drill bit wanders. Wood splinters on the underside. Drill bit binds in workpiece. Excessive drill bit runout, or wobble. Probable Cause Remedy Drill press unplugged from wall, or motor. Check all plug connections. Fuse blown, or circuit breaker tripped. Replace fuse, or reset circuit breaker. Cord damaged. Replace cord.

Ajuste Ajuste del tope de profundidad Viendo la Figura 10: Para taladrar orificios múltiples a la misma profundidad prefijada, use el tope de profundidad: 1. Marque con un lápiz la profundidad en que la broca taladrará la pieza de trabajo. 2. Con la broca en el mandril, baje el mango de avance descendente para hacer avanzar la broca hasta su marca (A). Figura 8 3. Con la otra mano, haga avanzar las contratuercas (B) en la varilla del tope de profundidad hasta que queden bien ajustadas al asiento (C).
6. Apriete las dos perillas de barra (E, Fig. 11). Las bandas están debidamente tensadas cuando la presión del dedo y el pulgar entre las dos poleas ocasiona una deflexión de aproximadamente ½”. Cambio de las velocidades del husillo Hay una tabla de velocidades del husillo y de la disposición de la polea/banda en el interior de la cubierta de la polea (D, Fig. 11). Cordones de extensión Asegúrese de que su cordón de extensión esté en buenas condiciones. Al usar un cordón de extensión, asegúrese de usar uno lo suficientemente pesado como para conducir la corriente que su máquina tomará. Un cordón demasiado pequeño producirá una caída en el voltaje de línea produciendo una pérdida de potencia y el sobrecalentamiento. La siguiente tabla muestra el tamaño correcto que se debe usar, dependiendo de la longitud del cordón y la clasificación de amperaje nominal.
