the headontothe columntop. Caution:
The headassemblyis heavy! Usecare
whenliftingontothecolumn!
10.Rotateheadassemblyuntilsidesofthebelt
coverareparallelwiththesidesofthebase.
11.Tightentwo set screws(A, Fig.4) witha
5mmwrenchuntiltheyaresnug.
12.Installthreedownfeedhandles(B,Fig.4)
intothedownfeedhub(C,Fig.4).
13.Raisetableto approximatelyseveninches
belowspindleassembly,andlockthetable
inplace.
14.Placeapieceofscrapwoodonthetable.
15.Thoroughlycleanspindle,arbor,andchuck.
Important: Thesethreepiecesmust be
freeof anyrustprotection,or lubricant. If
theyarenotclean,thearborandchuckwill
failtoseatinthespindle.
16.Placearborintothechuck.
17.Twistthe chuckto retractthechuckjawsif
theyareexposed.
18.Placearborand chuckassemblyinto the
spindle.
19.Turnthearborandchuckassemblyuntilthe
tangon thearborengagesthe slotat the
endofthespindle.
20. Lowerthe downfeed handleso that the
chuckmeetsthescrapwood. Pressureon
thedownfeedhandleoncethechuckmeets
thescrapwoodseatsthearborand chuck
intothespindle,SeeFigure.5.
Removing the Chuck and Arbor
1. Unplug machine from the power source.
2. Raise the table until it is about seven inchs

Place a piece of scrap wood on the table,
and lower quill using the down feed handle.
Rotate spindle to align the key hole in the
spindle with the key hole in the quill.
Insert the drift key (D, Fig. 6) into the aligned
slots and tap lightly. The chuck and arbor
assembly should fall from the spindle.
