BASIC FUNCTIONS
Connecting an external device
• An external playback device (e.g. MP3 player) can be connected to this radio via the AUX IN connection(20)
and music can be played from it through the loudspeakers.
• Attention: Before connecting your external playback device, please also read the operating instructions for
information regarding safety instructions and usage with other devices.
• Turn off the playback device and the external playback device.
• Connect the external playback device using a stereo cable (Ø3.5 mm, not included).
• Connect the stereo cable with the AUX IN jack (20) on the top of the device and put the other end into the
headphone jack or the LINE-OUT jack of the playback device. If the external device has a smaller or larger
jack, then use a corresponding adaptor (not included).
• First turn on the external device and set the volume to zero. Then turn this radio on and set the volume to
zero as well.
• Adjust the function switch (19) to AUX mode.
• Now you can regulate the volume of both devices. If the playback device is connected via the LINE-OUT jack
on the external device, then regulate the volume on the playback device.
• However, playback is controlled using the external device.
• Please note that if you only turn off this device, the external playback device will continue playing.
Antennas
• For FM reception, this device is equipped with a telescopic antenna (1). Pull the telescopic antenna out
completely and turn it to in the direction in which you get the best reception.
• For AM frequency, a ferrite antenna is integrated into the device. Position the radio in such a way that the
reception of the radio station has the best possible sound quality.
Radio mode
• Adjust the function switch (19) on the device to AM or FM. If the function switch (19) is on AM, then the
device is in AM radio mode. If the function switch is on FM, then the device is in FM radio mode.
• Set the desired radio stations with the TUNING control dial (10).
