3.4 MACHINE OPERATION
NEVER ATTEMPT TO USE THE FLYWHEEL HANDLE TO RAISE OR LOWER THE
PLATFORM WHILE STANDING NEXT TO THE MACHINE, OR WITH AN EMPTY
PLATFORM.
The following control conditions must be met before elevating
the platform:
Make sure the pre-start inspection (Section 2) has been
completed and the machine is safe to use.
Check that machine base is level and is set up properly for
operation.
Both platform swing-in entry gates must be closed once the
operator is in the platform.
JLG RECOMMENDS THAT THE OPERATOR UTILIZES A FALL/TRAVEL RESTRAINT
SYSTEM IN THE PLATFORM WITH A LANYARD ATTACHED TO THE AUTHORIZED
LANYARD ANCHORAGE POINT IN THE PLATFORM.
Positioning and Leveling Machine
1. Position machine under work area on a firm, level, and
uniform, supporting surface
2. Ensure the level indicator is centered and machine is
level. (See Figure 3-3.)

3. Check that ALL wheels/support pads on the front/rear
of machine are resting on the supporting surface.
4. EcoLift 50 - Once you have entered the platform
check that the front castor has retracted and machine
is resting on the front rubber foot pads.
EcoLift 70 - Lock each of the front castor wheels
before entering the platform.
