Electric Non-spring Return Actuators

Description

The M9102and M9104SeriesActuators are

direct-mount, non-spring returnelectric

actuators that operate on AC 24 Vpower.

These synchronous motor-driven actuators

providefloating control (AGA),floating control

with automatic shut-off (IGA), and proportional

controlwithselectable DC 0...10Vor

DC 2...10V(GGA). The -2Smodels are

equipped with plenum cables, and the-3S

models areequipped with terminal blocks.

Allmodels arecompact in size, and are easily

installed on Variable Air Volume (VAV)boxes,

Variable Volume and Temperature (VVT)two-

position zoneapplications, or small- to

medium-sized damperswitharound shaft up

to 1/2 in. (13 mm) in diameterora3/8 in.

(10mm) square shaft.

The M9102Series Electric Non-Spring Return

Actuatorsprovide arunning torque of 18 lb·in

(2 N·m),and the nominal traveltime is

30seconds at 60Hz(36seconds at 50Hz)for

90°ofrotation. The M9104Series Electric

Non-Spring Return Acuators providearunning

torque of 35 lb·in (4 N·m), and the nominal

travel time is 60seconds at 60Hz(72 seconds

at 50Hz)for 90°ofrotation.

Applications

The M9102and M9104Series Electric Non-

Spring Return Actuators aredesigned to

position balancing,control, round, and zone

dampersinHeating, Ventilating, and Air

Conditioning(HVAC) systems. Theseelectric

actuatorsare also designed to position blades

in aVAV box,ortheycan be used in VVT two-

position zone applications. Each actuator

mounts directlyto the surface in any

convenient orientationusing asingle No. 10

self-drillingsheet metal screw (included with

the actuator). No additional linkages or

couplers are required. Electrical connections

on the actuatorare clearlylabeled to simplify

installation.

Repair Information

If theM9102/M9104Electric Actuator fails to

operate within itsspecifications, replace the

unit. Forareplacement actuator,contact the

nearest Johnson Controls®representative.
