1. Check local plumbing codes for any restrictions that may exist in
your area.

gloves and safety glasses as examples.
3. If an existing ange is in place, remove it and clean the work area.
4. Inspect the DWV pipe for sharp edges or burrs. If any exist, remove
to assure a smooth mounting surface.
5. Remove the closet ange from the box and assure that no
packaging material remains.
6. Slide the closet ange over the cleaned DWV pipe until toilet
mounting ange contacts the oor.
7. Align the closet bolt slots in the proper orientation to assure the
toilet will be properly aligned when installed.
8. Once properly aligned, make sure that there is equal distance
around the circumference of the area between the lead bend and
the closet ange wall. Make sure that the ange is sitting ush on
the oor and level. If needed, add shims to the closet ange.

A small amount of ux can be applied to the ange if deemed
appropriate.

outward manner. Continue tapping the lead DWV pipe outward
until it contacts the angled section of the upper part of the closet
ange. The lead DWV pipe should contour to the inner angle of
the closet ange. Leave a small gap at the upper most section to
accept solder.
11. On low heat, use a torch to being warming the brass ange. Apply
as little heat to the lead as possible. Lead should not melt.
12. After the brass ange is warm, being soldering. Slowly work around
the circumference of the ange with the torch and solder until a
complete circle has been made. Repeat process as needed to have
a smooth soldered joint.
13. After soldering has been completed, use a waxed rag to smooth
out any imperfections in the semisolid solder. Do not smooth the
solder while it is still fully liquid.
14. Remove all items inserted in the DWV pipe. Install the toilet
according to the manufacturers instruction.
