1 Preparing and using for the first time
T Touch the Coffee symbol > to confirm the water hardness
setting.
The Filter symbol ! and the Water Tank symbol M light up.
T Open the water tank cover.
T Remove the water tank and rinse it with cold water.
T Open the filter holder.
T Insert the CLARIS Smart filter cartridge into the water tank,
exerting slight pressure.
T Close the filter holder. It will click into place audibly.
T Fill the water tank with fresh, cold water and reinsert the
tank.
E The machine automatically detects that you have just inserted
the filter cartridge.
The light segment on the switch lights up.
T Place a receptacle under the hot-water nozzle.
T Turn the switch to the§ position.
The light segment on the switch flashes, water flows out of
the hot-water nozzle.
E You can interrupt rinsing of the filter at any time. To do this,
turn the switch clockwise. Turn the switch anticlockwise to
continue rinsing the filter.
E The water may be slightly discoloured. This is not harmful to
health and does not affect the taste.
Rinsing of the filter stops automatically. The light segment
on the switch lights up.
T Turn the switch to the °position.
The < and > symbols flash, the system fills up with water.
The Coffee Grounds Container symbol W lights up.
T Empty the drip tray and coffee grounds container and put
them back into the machine.
T Place a receptacle under the coffee spout.
The < and > symbols flash, the system is rinsed. Water
flows out of the coffee spout. The rinse stops automatically.
Your D4 is ready for use.
