6 If an outside antenna is connected to the TV set, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna discharge unit, connection requirements for the grounding electrode.

C O N N E C T I O N S 7 TV GUIDE PLUS+ SETUP TV Guide Plus+ requires a certain hookup to properly function. It requires that the TV, the VCR, and the cable box be connected in a certain, specific manner. We have provided very specific diagrams on the next 5 pages. Please follow them exactly in order to insure that TV Guide Plus+ works properly. CABLE & ANTENNA CONNECTIONS There are three basic types of antenna or cable hookups. #1.
C O N N E C T I O N S #2 Cable Box Required For All Channels 1) Connect cable wire out from the wall, in to the cable box input. 2) Connect cable wire out from cable box, in to the splitter RF input. 3) Connect cable wire out from splitter RF output, in to the TV RF input. 4) Connect cable wire out from splitter RF output, in to the VCR RF input. NOTE: A) In order for TV Guide Plus+ to control the VCR and the cable box, put one IR Mouse in front of the remote infrared receiver window of each device.
C O N N E C T I O N S 9 AUDIO/VIDEO CONNECTIONS — STEREO To get stereo sound from a hi-fi stereo VCR, you must connect it to the TV with Audio/Video cables. To get the best picture quality from any VCR, you should connect it to the TV with Audio/Video cables. 1) Yellow video cable out from VCR, in to TV Video input jack. 2) White audio cable out from VCR Left Audio output, in to TV Left Audio input jack. 3) Red audio cable out from VCR Right Audio output, in to TV Right Audio input jack.
C O N N E C T I O N S CONNECTING S-VHS ACCESSORIES (VCR or Camcorder) Keep the audio connections the same as for a non-S-VHS VCR or camcorder (page 9), and use the special S-VHS cable that came with the VCR or Camcorder. (This illustration is of an S-VHS VCR hookup — the same connections will apply for an S-VHS camcorder.) 1) S-VHS Plug out from VCR, in to TV’s S-Video input. CONNECTING TO AN EXTERNAL AMPLIFIER 1) White audio cable out from TV Left Audio output jack, in to Amplifier [Left] input.
C O N N E C T I O N S 11 CONNECTING TO JVC AV COMPU LINK CAPABLE COMPONENTS AV Compu Link makes playing video tapes totally automatic. Simply insert a pre-recorded tape* into the JVC brand VCR, and the VCR automatically turns on and starts playing. At the same time, the VCR sends an AV Compu Link signal to the television telling it to turn on and switch to the correct video input. NOTE: The AV Compu Link cable should be included with the AV Compu Link capable accessory you intend to connect.
G E T T I N G S T A R T E D REMOTE CONTROL RM-C752 RM-C752 Changing and Inserting Batteries. Use only size AA batteries. 1 Push down on the triangle on the remote's back cover, and slide the cover off to remove it. 2 Insert the two supplied AA batteries, carefully noting the “+” and “–” markings on the batteries and remote control. To avoid a short circuit, insert “–” end first. 3 Snap the cover back into place.
G E T T I N G S T A R T E D 13 POWER ❒ Make sure that the TV/CATV switch is set to TV. Switch to CATV only to operate a cable box. ❒ Press the POWER button on the remote control or the TV front panel. The On Timer lamp will glow red. ❒ The first time you turn on the TV, the “Plug In Menu” will appear. You should turn to the Plug In Menu section (page 16) now to learn more about this menu. ❒ To turn the power off, press the POWER button again. The On Timer lamp will go out.
G E T T I N G S T A R T E D SETTING THE CATV & VCR CODES CABLE BOX OR SATELLITE SETUP VCR SETUP 1)Determine the correct code from the “CATV & Satellite Codes” chart below. 2)Slide the 2-Way Mode Selector Switch to CATV. 3)Press and hold down the DISPLAY button. 4)Enter the 3-digit code with the 10 key pad while continuing to hold down the DISPLAY button. 5)Release the D ISPLAY button. 6)Confirm the operation of the cable box.

T V G U I D E P L U S + S E T U P SETTING UP TV GUIDE PLUS+™ The first thing you must do with regard to TV Guide Plus+ is perform the setup. It’s very simple. Use your remote control to enter the information provided here. Screens very similar to those you will see as you perform each step are shown here. (Note: The word “PIP” in the window screen is where your TV will display an active picture of the channel you were watching.
T V G U I D E P L U S + STEP 3 This screen appears once you tell TV Guide Plus+ your postal or zip code information. 1. Press GREEN if you have cable, YELLOW if you do not have cable. (If you do not have cable, press YELLOW to skip to Step 8 on page 21.) STEP 4 If you answer YES to having cable, a screen asking if you have a cable box automatically appears. 1. Press GREEN if you have a cable box, YELLOW if you do not have a cable box. 2. Leave the cable box ON. It should always be left ON.

Press BLUE for Video Out (if you used diagram #3, page 8) Press GREEN for Channel 02 Press YELLOW for Channel 03 Press RED for Channel 04 STEP 8 (This screen will automatically appear once the cable box is set up.) 1. Press the GREEN button if you have a VCR or press the YELLOW button if you do not.
T V G U I D E P L U S + S E T U P END OF SETUP 1. A screen telling you that TV Guide Plus+ will be ready for use within 24 hours appears. Make sure that you turn the cable box ON and the VCR OFF. If you have a system with a cable box, make sure you change the VCR channel back to where you normally watch or record from the cable box (typically Channel 03 or 04.) 2. Press the BLUE button to exit setup. 3. Turn the TV off. 4. Data downloading usually takes less than 15 minutes.

But, before we jump right into it, there are some operating features of TV Guide Plus+ that you should be aware of... DOWNLOADING DA TA There are two types of data download — the “Host Search” and “Data Download”. THE HOST SEARCH — The Host Search is the Download search that we have been discussing thus far.

Since TV Guide Plus+ contains downloadable data, new program information comes in daily, the screens in this book are not actual. They are representations of what you are likely to see. T H E O N S C R E E N THE ONSCREEN MENUS: M E N U S PICTURE ADJUST PREVIOUS The 15 color icon based menus of the JVC 80 Series televisions are easy to use, and pleasant to look at. Icons in the upper right corner of each screen indicate which menu you are in, and selection and operation instructions at the bottom of each page make using the menu so easy. Below are depictions of each menu. NOTE: The menu screens depicted in this book are representations of the menu screens on your set.

C L O C K / T I M E R S Continued from below… SET CLOCK The Clock is the heart of all timer functions. The clock must be set before the timer functions to work. If you ran TV Guide Plus+ Setup, and are receiving the TV Guide Plus+ signal, you cannot set the clock, TV Guide Plus+ sets it for you.
C L O C K / T I M E R S ON/OFF TIMER SET LOCK CODE YOU tell the TV to turn on and off. Use it as an alarm to wake up, as a program reminder, or to simulate that you’re home when you’re out of the house. The Lock Code locks and unlocks Channel Guard.
I N I T I A L S E T U P TV SPEAKER CLOSED CAPTION You can listen to the TV speakers, or if your set is connected to a stereo, turn them off to listen to the stereo’s speakers. If they are included in a program, you can view closed captions or text information.
B U T T O N F U N C T I O N S DISPLAY VIDEO STATUS The onscreen display shows the current status of timers and inputs. The VIDEO STATUS button lets you select the “Choice” settings of the Set Video Status menu, or reset to factory settings. B U T T O N F U N C T I O N S HYPER SURROUND MUTING Create a deep, 3-dimensional sound effect by channeling the sound through the TV’s front firing speakers. The MUTING button turns the sound off completely when you press it. Press it again to restore the volume to the previous level. TV/VIDEO TV/INPUT controls the TV's input mode. RETURN+ There are two kinds of Return… TV/VIDEO TV VIDEO1 VIDEO2 Return+ — Set a “Return Channel” to return to after scanning with CHANNEL -/+.
B U T T O N NOTES: When you turn off the TV, PIP automatically turns off too. F U N C T I O N S PIP (Picture in Picture) FREEZE PIP allows you to view two pictures simultaneously. You can freeze the picture in the main screen into the PIP window. FREEZE (PIP) ON/OFF 07 02 Note: When the PIP is off, pressing FREEZE takes a snapshot of the main screen and puts it into the PIP window… great for catching those mail order addresses.
