CAUTIONS If you notice smoke or a peculiar smell coming from the printer, shut it down and unplug it IMMEDIATELY. Use of the printer under these conditions could lead to fire or electric shock. Contact your JVC dealer. DO NOT attempt to repair the malfunction yourself. DO NOT attempt to insert foreign objects into the printer, as this can lead to electric shock or fire. If an object other than print paper is accidentally inserted, shut the printer down, unplug it and contact your JVC dealer.

6 PREPARATION EN • Before printing, make sure everything is set up and ready. 1 Have a Color Print Paper Sheet Set ready (page 7). 2 Install the ink cassette in the printer (page 8). 3 Place the color print paper sheets in the paper tray and load the tray (page 9). • Use the print sheets and ink cassette from the same kit. 4 Connect an image source to the printer (page 10). 5 Plug the printer’s power cable into an AC outlet and press the STANDBY/ON button.
EN 7 About Color Print Paper Sheet Sets (optional) You must use one of the sets shown in the following chart: SET CONTENTS PX-K50SFAU (Standard type) • Standard Print Paper (50 Sheets) • Ink Cassette (50 Prints) Print your favorite images, just like snapshots. PX-K25UFAU (Glossy type) • Super-Fine High Grade Paper (25 Sheets) • Ink Cassette (25 Prints) Make customized picture postcards, greeting cards, etc. with less color fading compared to standard paper.
8 INSTALLATION OF INK CASSETTE EN Install the ink cassette included with the optionally available color print paper sheet set. CASSETTE DOOR 1 OPEN Pull the door in the direction indicated by the arrow to open it. UP SLACK 2 TAKE Remove the shipping material which locks the rollers. Turn the roller on the side with the in the direction of the arrow. Do not turn the part marked with A .
LOADING THE PAPER TRAY EN 9 Removing and Attaching the Paper Tray • Push the tray slightly to unlock the latch, then pull it out. • To attach, insert until you hear the paper tray catch in place. Press down the lever and insert the paper.
10 CABLE CONNECTION EN Connect the printer to an AC outlet. Use a different AC outlet from the one used for the TV and VCR. AC adapter • Carefully check the orientation of the 5 mark on the printer cable and connect it to the video equipment. To printer output connector Plug the power cord into the AC outlet. USING THE STAND EN 11 Use the stand when cramped for space If there is not enough space to lay the printer flat, you may attach the printer vertically to the supplied stand. Attach so that holes A are aligned with parts B as shown.
12 EN CLEARING PAPER JAM Clearing a Paper Jam If a paper jam occurs, turn the printer off, and then turn it back on again. When the power is turned on, the printer checks the position of the paper and automatically performs a reset operation, ejecting any paper inside the printer. If turning on the printer again does not eject the jammed paper, turn the printer off again.

16 EN PRINTING UNDER Windows® Steps Required to Print Turn on the printer’s power and connect the USB cable. • Check that the ink cassette is installed in the printer. (See page 8.) • You can tell the print status using the lamps on the printer. Load the print paper. • Load the print paper in the paper tray and attach to the printer. (See page 9.) Create the data to be printed. • Create the data to be printed using application software. Make printer settings using the printer driver.
EN Printing an Image Add text and process using commercially available software, and then print. ON THE PRINTER’S POWER AND 1 TURN CONNECT THE USB CABLE • Make sure the ink cassette and print paper are ready. THE IMAGE FILE TO BE PRINTED 2 OPEN • Select File – Open and click on the name of the image file you want to print. PRINTER SETTINGS 3 MAKE • Selecting File – Print will cause the Print window to appear. Select JVC GV-SP2 under the printer name item.
18 PRINTER DRIVER SETTINGS EN Printer driver settings are divided into several menus (dialog boxes). This section gives a brief description of these menus and the items found on them. 6 7 1 2 3 4 5 8 1 Copies Set when consecutively printing the same screen. A setting from 1 to 25 can be made. 2 Paper/Print Size Displays the paper size to be printed on. 3 Orientation Selects the page orientation.
EN 19 Although it is normally possible to obtain print results of sufficient quality just by setting the print type and paper size, this section describes how to use the menus to increase print quality even further. 2. Brightness adjustment 1 2 3 Make this adjustment when the color appears darker or lighter in the printout than it does displayed on the screen. • Adjust the brightness of the entire image using the bar. With "0" as the default, this value can be adjusted between –100 to +100.

22 PC PRINTER EDITION FOR Macintosh® EN Operating Environment The host computer running the Macintosh® operating environment must satisfy the following two conditions. 1. Be a computer with Mac OS 8.6 / Mac OS 9.0 installed (A minimum of 64MB of RAM is recommended.) 2. Be a USB-compatible computer with built-in USB port (iMacTM, iBookTM and Power MacTM G3/G4, PowerBookTM G3) NOTE: There are variations of the USB interface in various brands of personal computers.
INSTALLING THE SOFTWARE EN 23 Installing the Software For details on the basic operation of the Macintosh, please refer to the instruction manual supplied with the computer. Preparations: Start the Macintosh. • Exit from any other software currently being used. Turn on the printer’s STANDBY/ON button.

26 EN SETTINGS ON THE PAPER SETTING DIALOG BOX Settings on the paper setting dialog box are divided into several categories. This section gives a brief description of the available setting items. 1 2 3 4 5 1 Paper/Print Size Displays the paper size to be printed on. 2 Resize A reduction ratio to be used during printing can be set. Note, however, that the settable range for the reduction ratio may differ depending on the paper size and application software being used.

28 ERROR MESSAGES EN WHAT TO DO IF ANY OF THE MESSAGES BELOW APPEAR ON THE PC Message v Appears when: m Action: The specified number is more than the maximum number of print pages. m Set a value that does not exceed the maximum number of sheets that can be printed. The specified number is less than the minimum number of print pages. m Enter a value other than “0.” Set ink cassette. v This message appears if no ink cassette has been installed, or if it has not been installed properly.

Printing aborted. v This message appears if the printer power is not on, or if the power supply is not connected properly. m After connecting the power supply properly, turn on the printer. 13, 22 Printing data was not transmitted.
