Basic setting for picture COLOUR SYSTEM You can select the appropriate colour system when the picture is not clear or no colour appears. Press the COLOUR SYSTEM button to select a setting. Advance setting for picture BLUE BACK You can set the TV to automatically change to a blue screen and mute the sound if the signal is weak or absent, or when there is no input from an antenna. Select the BLUE BACK in the INSTALL menu, then choose ON or OFF. ❇ MENU INSTALL BLUE BACK If you wish to continue viewing the poor picture, cancel the BLUE BACK function. ZOOM You can change the screen size according to the picture aspect ratio. Choose the optimum one from three ZOOM modes.
Original features for picture TELETEXT TELETEXT LANGUAGE You can watch the Teletext broadcast channel with TEXT function. 1 Press the TEXT button to select the desired mode as follows: TV mode TEXT twin mode TEXT mode 2 Press the CHANNEL -/+ buttons, number buttons or colour buttons to select other Teletext pages. 3 Press TEXT or TV/VIDEO button to return to TV mode. You can also operate the teletext using the following buttons: (Hold) Hold a teletext page.
Basic setting for sound SOUND SYSTEM ADJUSTING THE SOUND You can select an appropriate sound system when abnormal sound occurs even when the picture appears normally. Press the SOUND SYSTEM button to select a setting. B/G I D/K M The function is not available in video mode. Advanced setting for sound AI VOLUME You can adjust the volume of all the channels and video inputs to the same level automatically. Select the AI VOLUME in SOUND menu, then choose ON or OFF. SOUND AI VOLUME ❇ MENU CINEMA SURROUND You can enjoy an enhanced sound for wider audience. Press the CINEMA SURROUND button to select a setting. OFF HIGH Cancel the function. Listen to sound with more wider audience effect. LOW Listen to sound with less wider audience effect.
DVD FUNCTION AUTO SIGNAL DETECT When the DVD input signal is detected. The input mode will be changed to VIDEO-3 automatically. For The DVD player, press the “POWER ON” button of the machine so that the signal can be detected. For the VTR, press the “POWER ON” button of the machine, and then press the “PLAY” button, so that the signal can be detected and display DVD menu. Select the AUTO SIGNAL DETECT in DVD MENU under FEATURES menu then choose ON or OFF (Factory setting is ON).
Customized setting DIGITAL VNR CHANNEL GUARD You can reduce the picture noise. Select the DIGITAL VNR in the PICTURE menu, then choose a setting of DIGITAL VNR function. ❇ MENU PICTURE DIGITAL VNR OFF MIN AUTO MAX DIGITAL VNR is turned off. Effect of DIGITAL VNR becomes minimum level. Effect of DIGITAL VNR is automatically controlled. Effect of DIGITAL VNR becomes maximum level. If you select MAX, the picture becomes softer even if the original picture is sharp. When you select to VIDEO-3 mode.
Customized setting (continued) To view a locked TV channel: 1 Choose a programme number in which a TV channel locked with the number buttons or PR LIST. The screen changes to blue and the (CHANNEL GUARD) appears. • You cannot choose a locked TV channel with the 5/∞ buttons. 2 Press the DISPLAY/BACK button to display “ID NO.” (ID number input screen). 3 Press the number buttons to enter the ID number. The lock is temporarily released so you can view the TV channel.
Customized setting (continued) SETUP TOUR APPEARANCE You can change format of Menu display when selecting Type of APPEARANCE in the INSTALL menu, then choose the desired setting. ❇ MENU INSTALL APPEARANCE TYPE A : Solid Form TYPE B : Light Form TYPE C : Light background Form/Solid bar You can use SETUP TOUR function for making the initial settings. When you select SETUP TOUR the LANGUAGE menu , TELETEXT LANGUAGE menu , AUTO PROGRAM menu , EDIT menu will be displayed follow as page 7.
TV channel presetting To register the TV channels automatically (AUTO PROGRAM) You can register the TV channels into the TV’s channel list automatically. 1 Display the INSTALL menu. INSTALL ❇ MENU 2 Choose AUTO PROGRAM, then press the MENU/OK button. AUTO PROGRAM function starts, and the channels received are registered in the channel list (PR list) automatically. 3 The EDIT menu appears. To edit the channel list Proceed to the Step 3 of “To edit the channel list (PR list)” on this page.
TV channel presetting (continued) To add in the new channel (INSERT in the EDIT menu) You can add in the new channel in the TV channel list as you like. You need to find the “CH/CC” number for the TV channel. Find the “CH/CC” number corresponding to the channel number of the TV channel from the attached sheet “CH/CC number list” on this page. 1 Display the INSTALL menu. INSTALL ❇ MENU 2 Choose EDIT/ MANUAL, then press the MENU/OK button. EDIT menu appears.
Additional preparation Connecting the external devices Connect the devices to the TV, paying attention to the following connection diagram. Before connecting anything: • Read the manuals provided with the devices. Depending on the devices, the connection method may differ from the figure. In addition, the device settings may be changed depending on the connection method to secure proper operation. • Turn off all the devices including the TV.
Troubleshooting If a problem arises while you are using the TV, please read this “Troubleshooting” well before you request having the TV repaired. You may be able to fix it easily by yourself. For example, if the AC plug is disconnected from the AC outlet, or the TV aerial has problems, you may think there is a problem with the TV itself. Important: • This Troubleshooting guide only covers problems whose causes are not easy to determine.
Troubleshooting (continued) POOR SOUND OTHER CONCERNS • Have you adjusted BASS or TREBLE properly? If not, follow the description “Adjusting the sound” on page 11 to try to adjust them properly. • When the TV channel reception is poor, it can be hard to hear the stereo or bilingual sound. In this case, follow the description “STEREO / I•II” on page 11 to hear the sound more easily by changing it to a mono sound.
