GETTING STARTED Power This camcorder’s 3-way power supply system lets you choose the most appropriate source of power. NOTES: ● No function is available without power supply. ● Use only specified power supply. ● Do not use provided power supply units with other equipment. CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK CHG. **CHARGE MARKER Charge marker A charge marker is provided on the battery pack to help you remember whether it has been charged or not. Two colors are provided (red and black)—you choose which one means charged and which means discharged. NOTES: ● The recording time per charge is affected by such factors as the time spent in Record/Standby mode and the frequency of zooming. It is safer to have spare battery packs.

RECORDING Advanced Features Program AE With Special Effects All you have to do to access any of the variety of shooting effects is to turn the PROGRAM AE select dial until the desired indication appears in the viewfinder. The mode is activated about 1 second later. White balance mode indicator No indication (Auto) MWB White Balance Adjustment This camcorder’s Automatic Color Temperature system senses the color temperature of the ambient lighting for automatic white balance adjustment. However, precise color adjustment is not possible under the following conditions: •When an object is in various shades of the same color. •When a predominantly red or brown object is being shot outdoors.
RECORDING Advanced Features Video Light (GR-AX710/AX650 only) When natural lighting is too dim, you can brighten the scene by using the built-in video light. 1 LIGHT ON/AUTO/OFF DANGER: n The video light becomes extremely hot. Do not touch it either while in operation or soon after turning it off, otherwise serious injury may result. n Do not place the camcorder into the carrying case immediately after using the video light, since it remains extremely hot.

RECORDING Advanced Features Focusing Auto Focus Focus detection zone F1 F2 The camcorder’s Full Range AF system offers continuous shooting ability from close-up to infinity. However, correct focus may not be obtainable in the situations listed below (in these cases use manual focusing): •When two subjects overlap in the same scene. •When illumination is low.* •When the subject has no contrast (difference in brightness and darkness), such as a flat, one-color wall, or a clear, blue sky.

Example of Character Generator & Title The camcorder has eight preset titles in memory. You can superimpose one of them above a previously stored title as shown in the illustration to the left. The preset titles appear in this order: HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OUR VACATION, MERRY CHRISTMAS, A SPECIAL DAY, HAPPY HOLIDAYS, OUR NEW BABY, WEDDING DAY, CONGRATULATIONS.
RECORDING Advanced Features Tally lamp PROGRAM AE Self-Timer You can set the delay between pressing Recording Start/ Stop and the actual start of recording. If you secure the camcorder, you (or whomever is operating the camcorder) can enter the scene before recording starts. Animation Time-Lapse Give stationary scenes or objects an illusion of movement. This function allows you to shoot a series of pictures, each slightly different, of the same object for a brief period of time. You can record sequentially at preset time spans. Leaving the camcorder aimed at a specific subject, you can record subtle changes over an extended period of time. NOTE: NOTE: You need the RM-V705U or RM-V700U remote control unit to perform the following procedure.
PLAYBACK Using The Cassette Adapter Cassette Adapter (VHS PlayPak) Use this to play back a VHS-C video cassette recorded with this camcorder. It is fully compatible with any VHS video cassette recorder. Cassettes To properly use and store your cassettes, be sure to read the following cautions: 1. 17 Indicateur de mode de balance des blancs Pas d'indication (Auto) MWB Ajustement de la balance des blancs Le système de balance des blancs automatique de ce camescope détecte la température de couleur de l’éclairage ambiant pour un ajustement automatique de la balance des blancs. Cependant, l’ajustement précis de la température de couleur n’est pas possible dans les conditions suivantes: • Quand un objet est en différentes nuances de la même couleur.
18 ENREGISTREMENT Fonctions avancées Torche vidéo (GR-AX710/AX650 seulement) Lorsque l'éclairage naturel est trop faible, vous pouvez éclairer la scène en utilisant la torche vidéo incorporée. 1 LIGHT ON/AUTO/OFF ATTENTION DANGER: n La torche vidéo et l'ampoule deviennent très chaudes. Pendant l'utilisation et immédiatement après avoir éteint, ne pas les toucher, sinon de sérieuses brûlures peuvent se produire.
19 Touche F1 Touche F2 Fondu Cette caractéristique permet de faire des fondus vidéo à l’ouverture et à la fermeture en douceur sur un fond noir. Le fondu à l’ouverture fonctionne au début de l’enregistrement, et le fondu à la fermeture fonctionne à la fin de l’enregistrement ou quand vous passez en mode d’attente d’enregistrement. Vous pouvez surimprimer l’un d’eux au dessus du titre précédemment mis en mémoire comme montré dans l’illustration sur la gauche. 26 ENREGISTREMENT Fonctions avancées Lampe de signalisation PROGRAM AE Retardateur Vous pouvez régler un retard entre le moment où vous appuyez sur la touche de marche/arrêt d’enregistrement et le début réel de l’enregistrement. Si vous fixez le camescope, vous (ou la personne qui fait fonctionner le camescope) pouvez entrer dans la scène avant que l’enregistrement commence. 27 Animation Animation programmée Donnez à des scènes ou des objets immobiles une illusion de mouvement. Cette fonction vous permet de filmer une série d’images légèrement différentes du même objet pendant une courte durée. Vous pouvez enregistrer de façon séquentielle à des intervalles préréglés. En laissant votre camescope pointé sur un sujet particulier, vous pouvez enregistrer des changements subtils sur une période étendue.
28 LECTURE Utilisation de l’adaptateur de cassette Adaptateur de cassette (VHS Playpak) Utiliser cet adaptateur pour lire une cassette vidéo VHS-C enregistrée avec ce camescope. Elle est entièrement compatible avec tout magnétoscope VHS. L’adaptateur C-P7U est alimenté sur pile et effectue automatiquement les opérations de chargement et déchargement de la bande.
29 LECTURE Raccordements de base Il y a trois types de raccordement de base. En faisant les raccordements, se référer également aux manuels d’instructions de votre magnétoscope et de votre téléviseur.
