Using Radio Data System
Receiving FM Stations with Radio Data
System
Radio Data System allows FM stations to send an additional
signal along with their regular program signals.
This System can receive the following types of Radio Data
System signals.
To show the Radio Data System information
While listening to an FM station...
Remote control
DISPLAY
MODE
PTY
SELECT –
TA/News/
Info
PTY
SEARCH
PTY
SELECT +
PS (Program Service) Shows commonly known station
names.
PTY (Program Type) Shows types of broadcast
programs.
RT (Radio Text) Shows text messages the station
sends.
Enhanced Other
Networks
Provides information about the
types of the programs broadcast
by the Radio Data System stations
of the different networks.
PS
(Program
Service)
While the System is searching for Radio
Data System information, “WAIT PS”
appears and then the station name is
displayed. “NO PS” appears if no signal
is received.
PTY
(Program
Type)
While the System is searching for Radio
Data System information, “WAIT
PTY” appears and then the type of the
broadcast program is displayed. “NO
PTY” appears if no signal is received.
RT (Radio
Text)
While the System is searching for Radio
Data System information, “WAIT RT”
appears and then text messages sent by
the station are displayed. “NO RT”
appears if no signal is received.
