" The speed of advance ( x2, x4, and etc) or reverse ( x2, or F.BWD button. x4, and etc.) changes for each press of the F.FWD Skipping Ahead or Back to Chapters You can skip a specific chapter or track to playback. Skipping Ahead Press NEXT during playback. Skips a chapter each time you press the button.

1-4 Convenient Functions-continued Clearing/Changing Subtitles If a disc provides subtitles, you can choose to hide or change them. (This operation works only with discs that provide subtitles.) 1 1 DVD Press SUBTITLE during playback, a subtitle window box will appear on the top left side of the screen. When no subtitles are recorded “ 2 3 4 Press Press ” will display. , the subtitle window box turns yellow. / Press to hide or change subtitles. . The subtitle window box will turn white.
1-4 Convenient Functions-continued Using a DVD Menu Some DVD discs have unique menu structures called DVD menus. For example, DVDs programmed with complex contents provide guide menus, and those recorded with various languages provide menus for audio and subtitle language. Although the DVD menu’s contents and operation vary from disc to disc, the following explains basic operation when this feature is used. Press TITLE. The DVD menu available on the disc now appears.
1-4 Convenient Functions-continued Playing Kodak Picture CDs and JPEG picture CDs You can play Kodak picture CDs and JPEG pictures for viewing on the screen. Basic Playback 1 DVD 1 Load a Kodak picture CD or a JPEG picture CD on the tray. After few seconds, the player starts play back the pictures in slide show automatically. You can press the number corresponding to the order of the picture. The player will begin the slide show from the selected picture. To stop slide show, press EJECT.
1-4 Convenient Functions-continued Progressive Scan Setting [DVD] The DVD player provides two scan modes: interlaced and progressive. When choosing Progressive Scan, you can have a better viewing result. This setting requires your TV also to have Progressive Scan feature. " Make sure the YUV cable are properly connected to your TV component input and your player component output. Press SETUP. Press / to switch pages to “Video Setup”.

Programming Audio CD Soundtrack You can program music to play back in your favorite order. Press STOP. Press PROGRAM. Press / to choose the preferred track and then Press Press / to select PLAY, then press . to start playing. NOTE: " The default playback order will start from the beginning to the end of the tracks if you did not set it yourself.

ORIGINAL: The top-priority language of each disc will always play back first. To return to the SETUP MENU screen Press button.
3-2 Video Setup Aspect Ratio Setting The kind of TV set (4:3 or 16:9) connected to this DVD Recorder can be selected. 1 2 3 4 Press SETUP in the stop mode. Press / to select “Video Setup” and press Press / to select “Aspect Ratio” then press Press / to select a preferred TV display. . . 16:9 Wide Select Wide (16:9) for a wide-screen TV set. Played in “FULL” size. " Setting the wide-screen TV to “FULL” mode is also necessary.
3-2 Video Setup-continued Channel Search Setting Channel Search is a tuner search and allows a channel to be confirmed.During initial setup, this DVD Recorder will select available TV channels. Yet, if more channels become available in your area, you may need to repeat the Channel Search to update the available channels. NOTE: 1.While doing Channel Search, it will erase and replace all previously stored channels. 2.Before doing Channel Search, make sure if SOURCE is the same with your setting.

3-4 System Info Setup DATE AND TIME Setting If this DVD Recorder sets the date and time incorrectly, you could set the information manually. 1 2 3 4 Press SETUP in the stop mode. Press / to select “System Info” and press Press / to select “Date and Time”, and then press Press / to select the preferred item. Every time you press 5 Press / . . , you could select the following items in order: hour, minute, second, month, day and year. to adjust the numbers to the exact date and time.

Factory pre-set password: 99999 6 Enter the new password again, and then press . To return to the SETUP MENU screen Press button.
3-4 System Info Setup-continued SCREEN SAVER Setting If you have set the screen saver ON by the following method then you may see it functioning in the stop mode. This function will ONLY function in the stop mode. 1 2 3 4 Press SETUP in the stop mode. Press / to select “System Info” and press . Press / to select “Screen Saver”, and then press Press / to select “ON” or “OFF” and press . . The waiting time of the screen saver is set to a certain time.
4-1 Before recording Before recording, please read the following instructions to have a good recording experience. 1. Before schedule recording, check the date and time setting again to make sure the information of the date and time be correct. Please refer to page 24 for further information. 2. Make sure this DVD Recorder connect to outer equipments correctly. Please refer Quick-guide for further information. 3. Make sure to use the correct disc (with free space) for recording.
4-2 Record Setup Disc Media Setup (Only works a DVD+R or DVD+RW is loaded) Finalize Setting 1 2 3 4 Press SETUP in the stop mode. Press / to select “Disc Media” then press . Press / to select “Finalize” then press to confirm to excute the function of finalization. Select “Confirm” to finalize or “Cancel” to back to the current state. NOTE: " The finalization function only works once in DVD+R disc. To return to the SETUP MENU screen Press button.

This DVD Recorder provides with up to 8 entires for schedule recording. 3 4 Press / to select one entry to enter your information and press Press / or number buttons to choose your freq date. . Example: If you want to record a TV sport show every Friday night; then choose “Wkly Fri”. 5 Press 6 Press 7 Press 8 Press 9 Press 10 Press button to choose “start time”.
4-3 Schedule Recording You can use this DVD Recorder to record from external source or TV programs. To Record From External Source Preparations: 1. Please connect this DVD Recorder to your TV, and connect outer equipments to this DVD Recorder. (For details, please refer to Quick-guide.) 2. Remember to use an unfinalized and recordable DVD+RW or DVD+R. 1 2 3 Turn on POWER of this DVD Recorder and outer equipments. Press EJECT to open the disc tray. Place a recordable DVD+RW or DVD+R onto the disc tray.
4-3 Schedule recording-continued You could use this DVD Recorder to record TV programs with a DVD+RW or DVD+R. To Record TV Programs Preparations: 1. Please connect this DVD Recorder to your TV. 2. Then connect Cable TV signal or Antenna to the ANTENNA IN jack on the back of this DVD Recorder. (For details, please refer to Quick-guide.) 3. Remember to use an unfinalized and recordable DVD+RW or DVD+R. 1 2 3 Turn on POWER of this DVD Recorder and your TV. Press EJECT to open the disc tray.
4-4 Editing This DVD Recorder provides two ways to edit a title. One is to edit a title while the title is playing, the other is to edit a title while the title is not playing. To Edit a Title While The Title is Playing You have five options to edit a title: Insert chapter, Remove chapter, Hide chapter, Show chapter and New Picture. NOTE: " Chapters are markers inside a title and you can jump from chapter to chapter within the title by pressing or button.
4-4 Editing-continued To Edit a Title While The Title is not Playing You have three options to edit a title: Erase Title, Play full title, Make Compatible. (If using a DVD+RW disc) You have two options to edit a title: Play full title and Finalize. (If using a DVD+R disc) Erase Title 1 2 3 4 Select one title from the title menu . Press EDIT, the EDIT menu will show on the screen. Press / Press to select “Erase Title”. to erase the active title from the DVD disc.
5-1 Troubleshooting Before requesting service for the DVD Recorder, check the chart below for a possible cause of the problem you are experiencing. Some simple checkups or a minor adjustment on your part may eliminate the problem and restore proper operation. SYMPTOM (COMMON) REMEDY No power. • Insert the power plug securely into the power outlet. • Check if the ON/OFF button on the front of the player is set to on. • Check if no power at the AC outlet by plugging in another appliance for a test.
5-1 Troubleshooting-continued SYMPTOM [DVD] REMEDY PLAY does not start playback even when title is selected. • This may be a result of the parental lock function that has been set. Confirm the “PARENTAL” setup. Audio soundtrack and/or subtitle language is not the one selected at the initial settings. • If the audio soundtrack and/or subtitle language does not exist on the disc, the language selected at the initial settings will not be seen/heard. No subtitles.
5-2 Disc Handling and Maintenance Handling Precautions (A) " Hold the disc by the edges so the surface will not " " " " " " be soiled with fingerprints. (A) Fingerprints, dirt and scratches can cause skipping and distortion. Do not write on the label side with a ball-point pen or other writing utensils. Do not use record cleaning sprays, benzine, thinner, static electricity prevention liquids or any other solvent. Be careful not to drop or bend the disc. Do not install more than 1 disc on the disc tray.
5-3 Definition of Terms Angle Recorded onto some DVD discs are scenes which have been simultaneously shot from a number of different angles (the same scene is shot from the front, from the left side, from the right side, etc.). With such discs, the ANGLE button can be used to view the scene from different angles. Chapter Number These numbers are recorded on DVD discs.
