Tools needed:
Allen wrench
Open end wrench (or adjustable wrench)
(2) slotted screwdrivers - minimum 6” blade length
Follow Instructions:
For replacing Lid, Base and Band/Hinge assembly follow steps 1-11
For replacing Lid only follow steps 1-5 and 11.
For replacing Base only follow steps 1-5, 8-9 and 11
Instruction Steps:
Step 1: Close lid and lock the casters to minimize grill movement.
Step 2: The 1
st
person will loosen the upper band bolt while the 2
nd
person holds the lid handle in the down position.
Step 3: Remove bolt, nut, and washer and put aside.
Step 4: Spread the band apart enough so it can clear the outer edge of the lid (use caution not to let the band damage
the ceramic outer surface). Some bands may have a small positioning pin at the front and rear centers of the band (on
the inner surface) that must be fully disengaged before the band can be raised in the next step. The pin will become
visible as you widen the band after bolt removal.
Step 5: The 2
nd
person can now slowly raise the band only, into the fully open upright position.
Step 6: While the 2
nd
person continues to hold the handle in upright position, the 1
st
person will take a standard slotted
screwdriver and place it on the spring loop where it connects to the lower band pin. Using the leverage of the
screwdriver apply upward force against the hinge plate and rotate enough to ease the spring off from the mounting pin.
Keep fingers away from any pinch points. Note: It is recommended you place some padding between the screwdriver
and the hinge plate to minimize any potential damage to the painted surface.
