The Katadyn Micro Water Bottle Microfilter eliminates the need to carry or locate safe water,
whether you are camping, hiking, paddling, fishing or anytime safe water is required. The
Katadyn Micro places the advanced technology of 0.3 micron pleated glassfiber filter media
and granular carbon into a standard water bottle. The result is a water bottle that meets
industry standards for reduction of bacteria (99.9999% Klebsiella terrigena) and protozoan
cysts (99.9% Giardia and Cryptosporidium).
When To Use
The Katadyn Micro is designed for use with untreated fresh water sources, such as lakes,
rivers and streams. It also provides a convenient alternative to pump-style water filters.
Because it's designed for personal use, the Micro is not suitable for situations when large vol-
umes of water must be treated.
How It Works
The Katadyn Micro Water Bottle Microfilter utilizes a two stage, modular filtration system.
The first stage is a 0.3 micron pleated glassfiber media microfilter cartridge that removes
bacteria, such as Klebsiella terrigena and cysts such as Giardia and Cryptosporidium. The
second stage carbon filter reduces chemicals and unpleasant taste and odors.
Please read the following instructions carefully for maximum performance from your Katadyn
Micro Water Bottle Microfilter. Failure to follow the instructions found in this guide may result
in unsafe drinking water.

Important Notes
1. In order to be filtered, water must pass through the microfilter cartridge. The flow rate
is slightly slower than an ordinary sports water bottle in order to ensure microfiltration.
2. Squeeze and sip using continuous pressure. You will notice a 2-4 second pause after
squeezing, like using a long straw, before water flows.
3. Always hold bottle upright when drinking. Water will not pass through the cartridge
if bottle is upside down or at an angle.
Product Set-Up - (before first use)
1. Rinse inside of bottle
2. Assemble the cartridge
Attach the Microfilter Cartridge to the bottom of the Carbon Filter. Gently twist each
component while pushing it on. Make sure ALL O-rings and components are fully
sealed and assembled. Firmly twist and push the carbon filter cartridge into the bottle
cap (Figure 2).
3. Flush System (IMPORTANT!)
Before first use, flush system to remove harmless carbon dust. Fill bottle with water. Install
Bottle Cap with assembled cartridge on bottle and tighten. Squeeze bottle tightly with both
hands until water runs clear. (NOTE: Discolored water is normal when flushing.)
1. Fill the bottle with water to the fill line (Figure 3). Remember, the clearer the water, the
longer the microfilter and carbon filter will last.
2. Insert cartridge/bottle cap into bottle. Turn bottle cap clockwise until tight.
3. Open bite valve. Note: The bite valve has two positions. Pull the bite valve out to
open. Push it in to close (Figure 4). Do not remove bite valve.
4. Hold the bottle upright when drinking. Squeeze and sip using continuous pressure.
5. Close bite valve after use.
NOTE: Before each use, flush and discard small amount of water (1 squeeze) to remove
stale taste.
