Every component is critically designed to give optimum acoustic performance in a compact, elegant enclosure. The key components in the 209 subwoofer are the drive unit, the amplifier and the enclosure – all three of these contain innovations that make this model a class leader.

This is why the more expensive loudspeaker systems have large or multiple bass drivers and big enclosures.

The spike/locking nut combination supplied is designed to provide small adjustments, not to compensate for seriously irregular floors. KEF strongly recommend that you do not attempt to level your loudspeakers single-handed.

Please check that the voltage indicated is correct for your country’s mains supply voltage as this subwoofer comes in 110V or 240V versions that are not inter-changeable. The Frequency and Slope controls apply only to the Left and Right line level inputs and are not applicable to the LFE input where it is assumed an external surround sound processor is controlling the bass management externally. Auto/Manual. Switches the Reference Series 209 subwoofer between automatic mode or manual mode.

To do this you will need to use the volume, frequency and phase controls on the subwoofer’s remote control. The remote control allows you to do this whilst seated in your normal listening position.

The Reference 209 subwoofer includes a room correction facility to optimise the performance in different listening environments.

Alternatively, use a variable suction vacuum cleaner, with soft brush attachment. A dedicated grille assembly is supplied with your subwoofer. However, if you wish you may remove the grille by gently pulling it forward toward you.

This enables fine adjustment of level, depending on your preferred location of the loudspeakers whatever the floor covering: carpet, tile or block wood. In addition to the spikes and locking nuts each Model 208 also comes with casters.

Adjusts the phase of the subwoofer output relative to your main speakers from 0 to 180 degrees in 5 degree steps. Subwoofer/Satellite Integration : Correct Level. This decreases or increases the subwoofers volume relative to the main speakers. Music and Cinema Setting The Music and Cinema Switch changes the internal EQ settings on the Reference Series 208 subwoofer. Music is a flat response as shown below.
