CAN I PLUG TURNTABLES DIRECTLY INTO MY K-MIX?
Yes. Inputs 3–8 are capable of accepting phono level signals (in addition to line level signals).
You will likely need to adjust the line/phono switches and set them to “Phono” (this can only be done via the
K-Mix Editor); by default they are set to Line. Once the inputs you want to plug turntables into have been set to
accept phono level signals simply plug in your turntables and turn up the K-Mix faders.
Also note that a majority of turntables have RCA audio connectors, so it is quite likely you will need RCA-to-TRS
(1/4”) adapters to properly get audio owing into your K-Mix.
HOW DO I GET THE HEADPHONE OUTPUT TO ACT AS ITS OWN SEPARATE
STEREO OUTPUT?
K-Mix’s headphone output can indeed function as a discrete stereo output. This can be done from either the
K-Mix hardware or the K-Mix Editor.
K-MIX HARDWARE
To set the headphone out to act as a discrete stereo output via the K-Mix hardware, do the following:
1. Power up K-Mix.
2. Press the [ ] button to enter Phones Mode.
3. Press the Master channel select button.
4. That’s it! The headphone out is now acting as a discrete stereo output.
K-MIX EDITOR
To set the headphone out to act as a discrete stereo output via the K-Mix Editor, do the following:
1. Connect your K-Mix to your computer and power it up.
2. Open the K-Mix Editor.
3. In the fader section (of the editor), click the headphone channel select button. The phones channel
strip will be displayed in the main tab area (just above the fader section).
4. In the phones channel strip view, click the “Discrete Stereo Output” button.
5. That’s it! The headphone out is now acting as a discrete stereo output.
Once the headphone output is set to act as a discrete output, the extra outputs can be accessed via a
computer by sending audio out to K-Mix outputs 9 & 10. It is important to note that only audio coming from a
computer can be sent directly to the extra headphone output channels; audio going into K-Mix’s analog inputs
cannot be sent directly to these output channels.
CAN I COMBINE MULTIPLE K-MIX INTO A SINGLE AGGREGATE DEVICE?
Yes, on Mac OS X it is fairly simple to create an aggregate audio device, combining the inputs and outputs
from multiple audio interfaces into a single, addressable audio device.
There are two parts to this process:
