The water heater should be secured to the floor and to the wall
of the enclosure with the mounting brackets provided. For
bracket location refer to _Securing Water Heater to Floor _nd
Wall" in the "Installation Instructions" section.
When a mobile home is skirted, an air intake opening with a
minimum free area of 32 square inches must be provided in the
skirt. If the opening is covered by louvers or screen, the total free
area must be 32 square inches. Other gas fired appliances in the
home will require additional free air openings; consult these
manufacturers for correct sizing.
&WARNING
A gaswater heater cannotoperate properlywithoutthe cor-
rectamount of air for combustion.Do net installin a confined

A CAUTION
WATER HEATERSEVENTUALLY LEAK: Installationof the
water heater must be uccomplishedin sucha mannerthat if
the tankor anyconnectionsshouldleak,the flow ofwater will
net causedamageto the structure.When such locationscan-
net be avoided,a suitable drainpan shouldbe installedunder
the water heater.Drain pansare availableat yourlocalSea_
store. Sucha drain pan mustbe not greater than 1½ inches
dee_ have a minimum lengthandwidth of at least2 inches
greaterthanthe water heater dimensionsand mustbe piped
to anadequatedrain.The panmustnot restrictcombustionair
flow.Under no circumstancesis the manufactureror _ to

floorspillbeingignited,gasolineandotherfiammabfesubstances'
shouldneverbe storedor usedinthe sameroomor areacorh
talninga gaswater heateror otheropenflameor sparkproduc-
ingappliance.
NOTE: Flammablevaporsmaybe drawnby air currentsfrom
otherareasof the stxucturetothe appliance.

Propellantsof aerosolspraysandvolatilecompounds,(clean-
ers,chlorine basedchemicals, refrigerants,etc.)inadditionto
beinghighlyflammablein manycases,will alsochangeto cor-

This water heater mustnet be installeddirectlyon carpeting.
Carpeting must be protected by a metal or wood panel
beneaththe appliance extendingbeyond the fullwidth and
depthof the appliance by at least3 inches(76.2mm) in any
direction,or if the applianceis installedin an alcoveor duset,
the erddreflOOrmustbe coveredby the panel.Failureto heed
this warningmayresultina firehazard.
