A. This appliancehas a pilotwhichmust be lightedby
hand.Whenlightingthepilot,followtheseinstructions
exactly.
B. BEFORELIGHTINGsmellall aroundtheappliancearea
for gas. Be sure to smell next to the floor because
somegasis heavierthanair andwillsettleonthefloor.
WHATTODOIFYOUSMELLGAS

Do not touch any o_ectricswitch; do not use any
phoneinyourbuilding.
Immediatelycell your gassupplierfroma neighbor's
phone.Followthe gassupplier'sinstructions.
If you cannotreachyourgas supplier,call thefire
department.
C. Use onlyyourhandtopush in orturn thegas control
knob.Neverusetools.Ifthe knobwill notpushin or
turnbyhand,don'ttryto repair it, calla qualifiedser-
vicetechnician.Forceor attemptedrepair may result
inafireorexplosion.
D. Do notusa this applianceif anyparthas beenunder
water.Immediatelycall a qualifiedservicetechnician
to inspecttheapplianceandto replaceanypartofthe
controlsystemandany gas controlwhichhas been
underwater.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1.STOPIReadthe safetyinformationaboveonthislabel.
2.Removeouterdoor,

watertemperaturedialclockwise,(F-"_) to itslowest
temperaturesetting(witharrowon dial)asshown.DO
NOT FORCE.
|. Tumgascontrolknobclockwise_P'÷ to "OFF" posi-
tion. Knob cannotbe turned from "PILOT" to "OFF"
unlessknobis depressedslightly.DO NOT FORCE,
(Figure5,page19).
5.Waitfive (5) minutesto clearout anygas.If you then
smellgas, STOPIFollow"B" in thesafetyinformation
aboveon this label.If you don'tsmellgas, goto the
nextstep.
5. Remove(or open) inner door locatedbelowthe gas
controlunit.(Figure8,page19)
?.Findpilot-followmetaltube fromgascontrol.Thepilot
islocatedontherighthandsideoftheburner.
PILOT BURNER _THERMOCOUPLE
8.If youdon'tsmellgas,turnknobongascontrolcounter
f_@ to "PILOT" position. (Figure 6,
clockwise
page19)
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold down.
Immediatelylightthe pilotwith a match.Continueto
hold control knobin for aboutone (1) minute after
the pilotis lit. Releaseknoband itwill pop backup.
Pilotshouldremainlit. If it goesout, repeat steps3
through 8, . . .
Ifknobdoesnotpop upwhenreleasae,szopano
immediatelycall yourservice technicianor gas
supplier.
e If the pilot will not stay lit after several tries,
depressandturnthe gascontrolknobclockwise
_) to"OFF"andcallyourservicetechnician

10. Replace(or close)inner door.Replaceouterdoor if
doordoesnot covergas controlon/offknob or tem-
peratureadjustmentknob.(Figure8, page19)
11. At armslengthaway,turngascontrolknobcounter-
clockwise _ to the full "ON" position.

12.At arms lengthaway,set the thermostatto desired
satting. Themark( ) HOTindicativeofapproximate
120°F is preferredstarting point.Some local taws
may requirea lowerstartingpoint.If hotterwateris

13.Replacetheouterdoorif not replacedinstep10.

TO TURN OFF GAS TO APPLIANCE
1. Set the thermostatto lowestsetting by turningthe
