If you do not follow these instructions exactly, a fire or explosion

Thisappliancehas a pilot whichmustbe lightedby
hand.Whenlightingthepilot,followtheseinstructions
exactly.
BEFORELIGHTINGsmellallaroundtheappliancearea
for gas. Be sure to smellnext to the floor because
somegasis heavierthanairandwillsettleonthefloor.

Immediatelycallyourgassupplierfrom a neighbor's
phone.Followthegassuppliersinstructions.

Useonlyyourhandto pushin orturnthe gascontrol
knob.Neveruse tools,ff theknobwill notpushin or
turnbyhand,don'ttrytorepair it,cell a qualifiedser-
vicetechnician.Forceor attemptedrepair mayresult
Inafireorexplosion,
Do notusethis applianceff any part hasbeenunder
water.Immediatelycell a qualifiedservicetechnician
to inspectthe applianceand to replaceanypart ofthe
controlsystemand anygascontrolwhichhasbeen
underwater.
LIGHTING INSTRUCTIONS
1.STOP!Readthesafetyinformationaboveonthislabel.
2.Removeouterdoor.
3. Set the thermostattolowest setting by turning the
watertemperaturedialclockwise,(( _,) to itslowest
temperaturesetting(witharrowondial)asshown.DO
NOT FORCE.
4.Turngascontrolknobclockw--ise_, _ to ",OFF"posi-
tion. Knobcannotbe turnedfrom 'PILOT to "OFF"
unlessknob is depressedslightly.DO NOT FORCE.

5. Waitfive(5) minutestoclearoutanygas. If youthen
smellgas,STOP!Follow B inthe safety information
aboveon this label.If youdon'tsmell gas,go to the
nextstep.
6. Remove(or open)innerdoor locatedbelowthe gas
controlunit.(Figure9, page15)
7.Findpilot-followmetaltubefromgascontrol.The pilot
islocatedontherighthandsideoftheburner.

8.If youdon'tsmellgas,turnknobongascontrolcounter
clockwise__(_ to"PILOT"position.(Figure7,page15)
9. Push in control knob all the way and hold down.
Immediatelylightthe pilotwitha match.Continueto
holdcontrol knob in for aboutone (1) minuteafter
thepilotis lit. Releaseknobandit will popbackup.
Pilotshouldremainlit. If it goesout,repeatsteps3
through8.
• Ifknobdoesnotpopupwhenreleased,stopandl
immediatelycall yourservicetechnicianor gasl
supplier.
• If the pilot will not stay lit after severaltries,
depress__ andturn,thegascontrolknobclockwise
V to' OFF andcell yourservicetechnician

10.Replace(or close)innerdoor.Replaceouterdoorif
doordoesnotcovergascontrolon/offknobor tem-
peratureadjustmentknob.(Figure9,page15)
11. Atarmslengthaway,turngascontrolknobcounter-
clockwise _ to the full "ON" position.

12. Atarmslengthaway,set thethermostatto desired
setting.Themark( • ) HOTindicativeof approximate
120°F is preferredstartingpoint. Some locallaws
may requirea lowerstartingpoint.If hotterwateris
desired,seeinstructionmanualand"warning" below.
13.Replacetheouterdoorif notreplacedinstep10.
