Use this list to verify that you have received all the components of your new Kenmore Elite vacuum cleaner.

OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION Moving parts! To reduce the risk of personal injury, DO NOT touch the agitator when vacuum cleaner is on. Contacting the agitator while it is rotating can cut, bruise or cause other injuries. Always turn off and unplug from electrical outlet before servicing. Use caution when operating near children. POWER CORD Cord Hook 4. Plug the polarized power cord into a 120 Volt outlet located near the floor. 1.
HANDLE RELEASE Release the handle by pressing down on the handle release pedal with your foot and pulling back and down on the handle with your hand. Use low position for cleaning under furniture. Press the pedal and lower handle towards the floor to change from normal use position to low position. OFF/FLOOR/CARPET SWITCH Note: The agitator does not rotate when the vacuum cleaner is locked in the upright position. OFF - turns both suction and agitator motors off.
PILE HEIGHT SELECTION AND SETTINGS Select a pile height setting by turning the height adjust selector located on the nozzle. Height Adjust Selector Suggested settings are: HI – Shag, deep pile, or scatter rugs. MED HI – Medium to deep pile. “|” – Medium pile. MED LO – Low to medium pile. LO – The preferred setting for many carpets and also for bare floors. NOTE: To protect bare floors and delicate carpets, place the power switch in the FLOOR position to turn off agitator rotation.
CHECK BAG INDICATOR When the vacuum cleaner is running with normal air flow, the light on the CHECK BAG indicator is off. NOTE: It is normal for the CHECK BAG indicator to come on when using certain attachments, due to reduced airflow through attachment. No maintenance is required. The light comes on when: CHECK BAG Indicator • Bag is full. See CHANGING DUST BAG (page 16). Ke ore nm • The airflow is blocked.
TELESCOPING WAND PET HANDIMATE The wand length is adjustable and requires no assembly. To adjust, simply press button on the wand handle and slide the upper wand to the desired length, release button and move inner wand in or out until it locks. Attach hose or wand end to Pet HandiMate and press firmly. Pet HandiMate® pivots for more convenient cleaning. SUCTION CONTROL The suction control allows you to change vacuum cleaner suction for different fabric and carpet weight.
PERFORMANCE/SAFETY FEATURES MOTOR PROTECTION SYSTEM Thermal Protector - Suction Motor This vacuum cleaner has a thermal protector which automatically trips to protect the vacuum cleaner suction motor. If a clog prevents the normal flow of air to the motor, the thermal protector turns the motor off automatically. This allows the motor to cool in order to prevent possible damage to the vacuum cleaner.
AGITATOR OVERLOAD PROTECTOR The agitator has built-in protection against motor damage should the agitator jam. If the agitator slows down or stops, the agitator overload protector shuts off the agitator motors. The vacuum cleaner suction motor will continue to run. To correct problem: Turn off and unplug vacuum cleaner, remove obstruction, then press OVERLOAD PROTECTOR RESET.
VACUUM CLEANER STORAGE Replace hose and wand in storage position if necessary (page 6 & 7). WARNING Electrical Shock And Personal Injury Hazard Wrapping the cord too tightly puts stress on the cord and can cause cord damage. A damaged cord is an electrical shock hazard and could cause personal injury or damage. Gather the cord and wrap it loosely around the upper and lower cord hooks. Lock power cord plug onto the power cord.
CHANGING DUST BAG TO REPLACE DUST BAG 1. Fold the safety seal tab Dust Bag on the new dust bag away from the opening that fits on the dust bag holder. WARNING Always unplug power cord from electrical outlet before performing maintenance to the vacuum cleaner. DUST BAG STYLE O TO REMOVE DUST BAG 1. Pull on the dust bag cover latch to remove Dust Bag dust bag cover. Cover NOTE: Do not pull on the dust bag. 2. Push dust bag collar opening completely over the dust bag holder as far as it will go.
MOTOR SAFETY FILTER WARNING Electrical Shock Hazard Unplug power cord from electrical outlet. Do not operate the vacuum cleaner without the motor safety filter. Be sure the filter is dry and properly installed to prevent motor failure and/or electrical shock. Check motor safety filter frequently and clean when dirty. Remove the dust bag as outlined in the CHANGING DUST BAG section (page 16). Lift the filter cover door located at the bottom of the dust container and check the filter (see illustration).
HEPA MEDIA EXHAUST FILTER EXHAUST FILTER STYLE EF-9 The exhaust filter must be replaced when it becomes dirty. The timing between replacement intervals will depend on the use conditions the vacuum cleaner is exposed to. The filter should be checked when changing the dust bag. The filter CANNOT be washed as it will lose its dust trapping ability. Tabs Slots 1. Remove filter cover by pressing the release tab on the cover and rotating out from vacuum cleaner. 5. Rotate in until cover snaps into place.
REMOVING CLOGS Always follow all safety precautions when performing maintenance to the vacuum cleaner. 3. Stretch the extension hose to maximum length and then allow the hose to return to its natural length. WARNING Electrical Shock Or Personal Injury Hazard Disconnect electrical supply before performing maintenance to the vacuum cleaner. Failure to do so could result in electrical shock or personal injury from the vacuum cleaner suddenly starting.
TO REMOVE CLOG FROM CLEAN-OUT PORT 1. Lift the clean-out port cover to access the clean-out port. TO REMOVE CLOG FROM PET HANDIMATE CAUTION To reduce the risk of injury from moving parts, remove Pet HandiMate from vacuum hose or wand before servicing. Clean out port Frequently check air path to make sure it is free of obstructions. 2. Remove any debris or build-up. 3. Reinstall cover. Make sure it is completely secured in place.
TROUBLESHOOTING Review this table to find do-it-yourself solutions for minor performance problems. Any service needed, other than maintenance described in this Use & Care Guide, should be performed by a Sears or other qualified service agent. INSTRUCCIONES DE OPERACIÓN CUIDADO ¡Partes en movimiento! Para reducir el riesgo de daños corporales, no toque el agitador cuando la aspiradora está encendida. El tocar el agitador mientras que está girando puede cortar, contusionar o causar otras lesiones. Siempre desconecte del tomacorriente antes de dar mantenimiento. Tenga cuidado al aspirar cerca de niños. CORDÓN ELÉCTRICO 1. Gire el sujetador del cordón hacia abajo para liberar el cordón eléctrico.
DESPRENDIMIENTO DEL MANGO Libere el mango pisando el pedal de liberación y tirando del mango hacia abajo con la mano. Mueva la aspiradora a la posición mediana para el uso normal. Pise el pedal de liberación y baje la manija hacia el suelo para cambiar de la posición normal a la posición baja. INTERRUPTOR OFF/FLOOR/CARPET Nota: El agitador no girará cuando la aspiradora está en posición vertical. CUIDADO Refiérase a las recomendaciones de los fabricantes de su alfombra para su limpieza.
SELECCIÓN DE NIVEL DE PELO DE LA ALFOMBRA Seleccione una altura del pelo de la alfombra girando el selector de nivel de pelo de la alfombra situado en la boquilla. Se sugieren los siguientes ajustes: HI – Pelo muy largo y suelto, tapetes, alfombras muy acojinadas. MED HI – Pelo mediano a largo. “|” – Pelo mediano. MED LO – Pelo corto a mediano. LO – El ajuste predilecto para muchas alfombras y pisos sin recubrimiento.
INDICADOR DE CHECK BAG Cuando la unidad esta trabajando con un flujo de aire normal, la luz en Indicador de CHECK BAG esta apagada. La luz se enciende cuando. Nota: Es normal que el indicador de bolsa llena se active cuando se utilizan ciertos accesorios debido a la reducción de aire. No es necesario ningún mantenimiento. TUBO TELESCÓPICO CONTROL DE ASPIRATIÓN El tubo telescopio es ajustable y no requiere ensamble, para ajustar simplemente presione el botón y estire hasta encontrar la altura deseada, suelte el botón y mueva la extensión interior para adentro a apara afuera hasta que esta se trabe. El control de aspiración le permite cambiar la potencia de aspiración de la aspiradora dependiendo del grosor de la tela o alfombra.
CARACTERÍSTICAS DE RENDIMIENTO/SEGURIDAD SISTEMA DE PROTECCIÓN DE MOTOR Protector Termal - Succión del Motor Esta aspiradora tiene un protector termal que se ajusta automáticamente para proteger a la aspiradora del sobrecalentamiento. Si una obstrucción impide el flujo normal de aire al motor, el protector termal apaga el motor automáticamente para permitir que el motor se enfríe a fin de evitar posibles daños a la aspiradora.
PROTECTOR DE SOBRECARGA DEL AGITADOR El motor del agitador tiene una protección incorporada contra daño del motor en caso de que el agitador se bloquee. Si el agitador se pone lento o se detiene, el protector de sobrecarga del agitador apaga el motor del agitador. El motor de succión continuará funcionando. Para corregir el problema: Apagué y desconecté la aspiradora, limpie la obstrucción, y después presione el botón del protector de sobrecarga (OVERLOAD PROTECTOR RESET).
ALMACENAMIENTO DE LA ASPIRADORA Reemplace la manguera y el tube si es necesario (ver pág 5 & 6). ADVERTENCIA Choque eléctrico y Peligro de daños personales Recoja el cordón y enrollarlo en los sujetadores superior e inferior, sin que quede muy apretado. Asegure la clavija sobre el cordón de poder (ver pág 6). Enrollar el cordón muy apretado pone estrés en el cordón y puede causar que este se dañe. Un cordón dañado es un peligro de choque eléctrico y puede causar daños personales.

FILTRO DE PROTECCIÓN AL MOTOR ADVERTENCIA Peligro de choque eléctrico Desenchufe el cable de poder del tomacorriente. No opere la aspiradora sin el filtro primario o el filtro de escape. Este segure que los filtros estén instalados apropiadamente para prevenir alguna falla del motor y/o sacudida eléctrica. Lave el filtro con agua tibia en una solución jabonosa, enjuague bien y aprietelo bien con su mano para remover excesos de agua, permita que este seque al aire libre por lo menos 24 horas.
CAMBIO DEL FILTRO DE ESCAPE FILTRO DE ESCAPE ESTILO No. EF-9 El filtro de escape se debe reemplazar cuando este sucio. El tiempo de reemplazo depende de las condiciones de uso. El filtro de escape de debe de revisas cada ves que se cambie la bolsa. El filtro de escape no puede ser lavado, perdería su capacidad de atrapar el polvo. 1. CÓMO ELIMINAR LOS RESIDUOS DE BASURA EN LOS CONDUCTOS Proceda siempre con precauciones de seguridad antes de efectuar el mantenimiento a su aspiradora. 3.
