INITIAL SETTINGS 2 Finish the procedure. Initial setup When you power on the unit for the first time or reset the unit, the initial setting screen appears. • You can also change the settings on the screen. DISCS Playing a disc • If a disc does not have a disc menu, all tracks on it will be played repeatedly until you change the source or eject the disc. • For playable disc types/file types, see page 72. R Inserting a disc Insert a disc with the label side facing up. R Ejecting a disc • When removing a disc, pull it horizontally. • You can eject a disc when playing another AV source.
DISCS Operation buttons • Available buttons on the screen and operations differ depending on the type of disc/file being played back. Displays the folder/track list. DISCS R Selecting a folder/track on the list R Video menu operations 1 You can display the video menu screen during video playback. • The operation buttons disappear when the screen is touched or when no operation is done for about 5 seconds. 2 Select the folder (1), then the item in the selected folder (2). • Repeat the procedure until you select the desired track. For video playback except VCD • You can change the page to display more items by pressing [J]/[K].

USB Connecting a USB device You can connect a USB mass storage class device such as a USB memory, Digital Audio Player etc. to the unit. • For details about connecting USB devices, see page 67. • You cannot connect a computer or portable HDD to the USB input terminal. • For playable file types and notes on using USB devices, see page 73. When a USB device is connected... The source changes to “USB” and playback starts. • All tracks in the USB device will be played repeatedly until you change the source.
USB R Setting Set the interval between slides during slide-shows of the picture files. Connect your iPod/iPhone according to your purpose or the type of iPod/iPhone. R Selecting the iPod/iPhone device to play and connection method press [Next] (2). When connecting the iPod/iPhone device for first time, the setup screen (for connection, etc.) appears. Follow the procedure on the setup screen to configure the settings.

(Page 45) – When an Android device compatible with Android Auto is connected to the USB input terminal, the device is connected via Bluetooth automatically, and the Bluetooth mobile phone currently connected is disconnected. • Unlock your Android device.

Preparation Connect the device, then start the Pandora application. Playback operations You can operate Pandora using the remote controller (optional accessory). iHeartRADIO iHeartRADIO is a free, all-in-one digital radio service that lets you listen to your favorite Live Stations or create commercial-free, all-music Custom Stations featuring songs from the artists you select and similar music. You can stream iHeartRADIO from iPod touch/ iPhone or Android devices. • Install the latest version of the iHeartRADIO application on your iPod touch/iPhone/Android. Preparation Connect the device, then start the iHeartRADIO application.

SiriusXM® Satellite Radio Selecting the channels to lock—Parental Lock Channel This parental control option allows you to pick the channels to be locked by the parental control feature. • When is set to [Mature] or [OFF], you cannot change the setting. 1 Repeat this step if you want to set the lock on multiple channels. • You can change the page to display more items by pressing [J]/[K]. • To list all the channels, select [All Channels].

OTHER EXTERNAL COMPONENTS Using a smartphone—HDMI/MHL R What is HDMI/MHL? HDMI stands for High Definition Multi-media Interface. HDMI connections can transfer digital video source signals (such as from a DVD player) without converting them to analog. A new feature that has been added to HDMI that extends its capabilities further is MHL, or Mobile High-definition Link. Both interfaces allow your smartphone to connect to the device. When it is connected, you can see your smartphone’s screen on the monitor.
BLUETOOTH Information for using Bluetooth® devices Bluetooth is a short-range wireless radio communication technology for mobile devices such as mobile phones, portable PCs, and other devices. Bluetooth devices can be connected without cables and communicate with each other. Notes • While driving, do not perform complicated operations such as dialing numbers, using the phone book, etc. When you perform these operations, stop your car in a safe place.
BLUETOOTH Pairing a Bluetooth device from the target device using a PIN code (for Bluetooth 2.0) 1 Display the screen. On the screen: • Press [K] repeatedly to change the page on the menu screen. 2 Change the PIN code. • If you wish to skip changing the PIN code, go to step 3. • The PIN code is initially set to “0000”. • The maximum number of digits in the PIN code is 15. 4 Select the unit (“DDX****”) on your Bluetooth device.

SETTINGS Settings for using applications of iPod/iPhone/Android Before using applications of iPod/iPhone/Android such as Pandora, iHeartRADIO, AUPEO!, or Spotify select the device to use and connection method. When connecting the device for first time, the setup screen (for connection, etc.) appears. Follow the procedure on the setup screen to configure the settings. 1 Pair the iPod/iPhone/Android device through Bluetooth. (Page 45) 2 Display the screen.
SETTINGS Sound adjustment R Using the sound equalization • The adjustment is memorized for each source until you adjust the sound again. If the source is a disc, the adjustment is stored for each of the following categories. – DVD/DVD-VR/VCD – CD – MPEG1/MPEG2/MP3/WMA/AAC • You cannot adjust the sound when the unit is in standby. Selecting a preset sound mode • You can also display the screen by pressing AUD on the monitor panel.

Customizing the system settings R Memorizing/recalling the settings • You can memorize the settings changed in the menu and recall the memorized settings any time. • The memorized settings are kept even when the unit is reset.
SETTINGS R Locking the settings R Adjusting the touch position You can lock the settings to prevent them from being changed. • is shown beside the settings that can be locked. CONNECTION/INSTALLATION Before installing the unit V WARNING • If you connect the ignition wire (red) and the battery wire (yellow) to the car chassis (ground), you may cause a short circuit, that in turn may start a fire. Always connect those wires to the power source running through the fuse box. • Do not cut out the fuse from the ignition wire (red) and the battery wire (yellow). The power supply must be connected to the wires via the fuse.
CONNECTION/INSTALLATION R Installation procedure 1 To prevent a short circuit, remove the key 2 3 4 5 6 from the ignition and disconnect the · battery. Make the proper input and output wire connections for each unit. Connect the speaker wires of the wiring harness. Connect the wiring harness wires in the following order: ground, battery, ignition. Connect the wiring harness connector to the unit. Install the unit in your car. • Make sure that the unit is installed securely in place.

CONNECTION/INSTALLATION R Connecting the GPS antenna Connect the GPS antenna (0) to the GPS terminal. • To install the GPS antenna, fix the metal plate (-) firmly on the dashboard, then place the GPS antenna (0) on the metal plate (-). – Clean the dashboard or other surface beforehand. – Install the GPS antenna (0) inside of the car, as horizontally as possible to allow easy reception of the GPS satellite signals. – You can bend the metal plate (-) to conform to a curved surface, if necessary.
