English Handling Compact discs Playing a CD that is dirty, scratched or w arped can cause the sound to skip and the unit to operate incorrectly, resulting in w orsened sound quality. Take the follow ing precautions to prevent your CDs from getting scratched or damaged. Handling CDs • Do not touch the recorded side of the CD (the side opposite the label) w hen holding it. • The reflective film on a CD-R or a CD-RW is more fragile than that on an ordinary music CD, and may peel off if scratched.

English Cassette player features Playing Casset t e Tapes CD EJECT Loading and Playing Cassettes: A press of the OPEN button results in the faceplate dropping open to the front, thereby exposing the cassette insertion slot. Holding the cassette w ith the tape exposed to the right, insert it in the slot. The tape w ill start playing. Push back on the right side of the faceplate w ith your hand until it locks. The indicator lights up w hen a cassette has been loaded.
2CA U TION • When the faceplate has been dropped open, it might interfere w ith the shift lever or something else. If this happens, pay attention to safety and move the shift lever or take an appropriate action, then operate the unit. • Do not apply excessive force to the open faceplate or place objects on it. Doing so w ill cause damage or breakdow n. • Do not use the unit w ith the faceplate in the open condition. Doing so w ill cause breakdow n.
English Cassette player features U sing D irect Program Search Syst em (D PSS) Blank Sk ip Skip forw ard or backw ard to other tracks during playback. Autom atically fast forw ards to the beginning of the next track w hen long blank spaces (10 seconds or m ore) are detected, continuing tape playback. This function is on, w hen unit is first pow ered on. Skipping to Beginning of Current Track or to Previous Tracks (Rew ind DPSS): Press the 4 button.
CD/ External disc control features M usic Repeat Repeatedly plays the track currently being listened to. Turning M usic Repeat On/ Off: Press the REP button to sw itch music repeat on/off. "Repeat On" is displayed w hen music repeat is turned on. Canceling M usic Repeat: Press either the REP or 38 button. CD EJECT OPEN 0 0 DISP/ NAME SET N OTE M usic repeat "know s" w here a track begins by detecting the blank space preceding it (the space betw een tracks).
English CD/ External disc control features • Regardless of the control unit, the characters that can be registered w ith the Presetting Disc Names function are "A~ Z 0~ 9 /, + , –, ∗, = , < , > , [ , ]". • The disc name w ill be displayed w hen the name has been registered to the playing unit w ith the Presetting Disc Names function. Playing CD s Playing CDs: If no CDs are inserted, insert one in the slot w ith the label facing up.
Sw it ching D isplay f or D iscs Fast Forw arding and Reversing D isc Play Sw itch the display that appears w hile discs are playing. Fast Forw arding Disc Play: Hold dow n on the ¢ button. Release your finger to play the disc at that point. Reversing Disc Play: Hold dow n on the 4 button. Release your finger to play the disc at the point.

Track Search N OTE Search forw ard or backw ard through the tracks on the disc until you reach the one that you w ant to listen to. "LOAD" is displayed w hen discs are being exchanged on the disc changer. M aking a Reverse Track Search: Press the 4 button to display the desired track number.
Track Scan Successively play the beginning of each track on a disc until you find the track that you w ant to listen to. Starting the Track Scan : Press the SCN button. "Track Scan" is displayed and the first 10 seconds of each track w ill be played, in order. The track number currently being heard blinks in the display. Stopping to Listen to the Track Being Scanned: Press the 38 or SCN button again to stop the scan and keep on listening to a track normally.
English CD/ External disc control features • M agazine random play is canceled w hen you eject the disc. • The time needed for random selection depends on the number of discs loaded in the disc magazine. Random Play Play all the tracks on the current disc in random order. 1 Press the RDM button to sw itch random play on and off. "Random" is displayed w hen random play is turned on. The track number w ill change over and over in the display as the next track is being selected.

English DSP/ Equalizer/ Analyzer control features D SP (D igit al Signal Processor) CD EJECT A DSP is a device w hich uses digital control to correct the audio signal and produce sound effects that can com pensate for the sm all passenger com partm ent of a vehicle. The DSP indicator lights up w hen the DSP m ode is on. This function reproduces m any different virtual sound fields such as of a concert hall w ithin a vehicle.
Preset Equalizer Select ion You can choose the equalizer from four settings w hose sound qualities are preset to m atch m usic or vehicle characteristics. If you make no button operation for 10 seconds, the equalizer mode is automatically canceled. Sw itching the Preset Equalizer: 1 Press the EQ button. "EQ mode" is displayed once the equalizer mode is entered.

Press the FNC button to enter the function set m ode and then display the function to m ake the setting. Select ing D isplay M ode The Display M ode sets the num ber of display colours used by the Spectrum Analyser. Display and setting: "Preout Rear" : Rear preout "Preout N-F" : Non-fading preout Display and setting: "DISP M ODE A" : The display can be set to use three colours: w hite, light blue and blue.
English Function Set System Basic Operations of remote A ut o M em ory Ent ry You can autom atically store all the receivable frequencies in the band currently being listened to, and then recall them w ith the touch of a button later. This function is especially useful w hen you are travelling and do not know w hat stations are available. Up to six frequencies can be stored this w ay. Troubleshoot ing Guide What might seem to be a malfunction in your unit may just be the result of slight misoperation or misw iring. Before calling service, first check the follow ing table for possible problems. PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION The pow er does not turn on. The fuse has blow n. After checking for short circuits in the w ires, replace the fuse w ith one w ith the same rating. No sound can be heard, or the volume is low . Attenuator is turned on. Turn off Attenuator.
Troubleshoot ing Guide English PROBLEM The memory is erased w hen the ignition is turned off. POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION The battery w ire has not been connected to the proper terminal. Connect the w ire correctly, referring to the section on "Connecting Wires to Terminals". The ignition and battery w ire are incorrectly connected. Connect the w ire correctly, referring to the section on "Connecting Wires to Terminals". The CD is upside-dow n. Load the CD w ith the labeled side up.
Disc Control M ode PROBLEM POSSIBLE CAUSE SOLUTION The disc control mode cannot be selected. No cable has been connected to the disc changer input terminal on the unit. Connect the cable to the disc changer input terminal on the unit. The specified disc does not play, but another one plays instead. The specified CD is quite dirty. Clean the CD. The CD is upside-dow n. Load the CD w ith the labeled side up. The disc is loaded in a different slot from that specified.
English Troubleshoot ing Guide The follow ing messages are displayed w hen certain problems are occurring in your system. Take the recommended actions. EJECT No disc magazine has been loaded in the changer. The disc magazine is not completely loaded. ] Load the disc magazine properly. No Disc No disc has been loaded in the disc magazine. ] Load a disc into the disc magazine. Error 04 No disc has been loaded in the disc magazine. ] Load a disc into the disc magazine. The CD is quite dirty.
