Installation Installing the Unit Bend the tabs of the mounting sleeve with a screwdriver or similar utensil and attach it in place. 3 Basic Operation Ripping songs from music CD Songs (audio files) to be played on Kenwood car audio must first be ripped from the music CD to your PC with an external program (such as Windows Media Player 10/11) that has an ripping function. NOTE • Hereafter, Windows Media Player 10/11 will be referred to simply as Windows Media Player. • This program does not have the function to rip songs from CD. • Windows Media Player has a function to copy protect the songs (audio files) ripped to your PC.
3 Basic Operation Importing songs to library After ripping songs (audio files) to your PC from a music CD, import them to the library of this program. 1 Click 2 Select the song to import and click [Open]. 3 Click [Yes] or [No]. . The selected song is imported and appears in the file list view. You can also click songs while holding down the Shift key to select more than one song. [Yes] : Data are analyzed when importing. [No] : Audio file is not analyzed when importing.
3 Basic Operation NOTE • You can also specify the file format of the imported song (audio file) in the [File] tab of the option setup dialog displayed by selecting [Options] from the [Tools] menu. This specification applies to all imports including library update. • Songs can also be imported by folder (album). See Help for details. • You can also select [Import File] from the [File] menu. • The original song (audio file itself ) is not copied or moved when it is imported by the above method.
3 Basic Operation Making USB device available The USB device used with this program must first be made available. 1 Connect the USB device. 2 In the target selector, click the icon of the USB device to register. 3 Select [Register target.], and click [Yes]. 4 Set the name of the USB device. 5 Click 9 of Supported Model.

When registration completes, an icon corresponding to the USB device appears in the target selector. CAUTION • Startup the PC before connecting the USB device. Also, turn on the power switch if the USB device has a power switch. • If you are connecting a USB device with a power switch to your PC, do not turn off the power switch.
3 Basic Operation NOTE • Selecting [Create database without registering.] in step 3 creates a database on the USB device to enable a song selection by categories or artists on a car audio system from songs stored in USB device. This operation will not register the USB device to this program. • You can change the icon of the USB device by clicking [Change Icon] in step 4. • When a USB device is registered, the necessary information is written and directory for storing the device library is created.
3 Basic Operation Transferring songs to USB device You can reserve to transfer songs to a USB device by dragging and dropping items displayed in library view or songs displayed in file list view to the target view, and selected songs actually will transfer when device is synchronized. 1 Select the target device in the target view. 2 Select the song to transfer. 3 Drag and drop the selected song to the target view. 4 Synchronize the USB device to PC.
3 Basic Operation Synchronizing with USB device Synchronizing each USB device library managed by this program with the actual library in the USB device. 1 Connect the USB device. 2 Select the USB device to synchronize in the target selector. 3 Click . NOTE • The Synchronize button is disabled if the USB device selected in step 2 is not connected.

Viewing songs in the library You can view songs (audio files) in this program's library or USB device. 1 Click the item to view the songs by in the library view or target view. For example, select "All Songs" in the library view to view all songs in this program's library in a file list view. Or, select a USB device's playlist in the target view to view songs in that playlist in a file list view.
4 Library management Changing song display order You can change the order of the songs (audio files) displayed in the file list view. 1 Click the item to sort by. The displayed songs are sorted in the ascending order of the selected item. Click the same item once more to sort in descending order. NOTE • Up arrow (ascending) or down arrow (descending) appears by the current sort item. • You cannot change the display order of the playlist. It is always displayed in playing order.
4 Library management Searching songs in the library You can search songs in this program's library or USB device library. 1 Click the item to search the songs by in the library view or target view. 2 Select the information to search from the drop down list. 3 Enter the search string. The search result appears in the file list view. NOTE • Click at Search Bar to clear the string entered.
4 Library management Deleting a song You can delete songs (songs displayed in file list view) in your library. 1 Select the target device in order to delete a song in the USB device. 2 Click "All Songs" in the library view or target view. 3 Select the songs to delete in the file list view. 4 Press the [Delete] key. NOTE • Songs registered in the dynamic playlist cannot be deleted. • You can delete songs in the USB device library by selecting "All Songs" in the target view.
4 Library management Song information About song information Various information is imported when you import songs from a music CD to your PC. This information is referred to as song information. This program can manage the following song information. 4 Library management Changing song information You can change links to song information such as title, artist, album, genre, track no., year, favorite, and album art. 1 Select the song (audio file) to change the information. 2 Select [Property] from the [Edit] menu. 3 Change the desired items. 4 Click [OK]. The Properties dialog appears. NOTE • If you change the track number, the playing order may change.
5 Playlists 5 Playlists With this software, you can play your favorite songs or songs collected according to predefined rules like an album. There are three types of playlist: • Playlists The user selects the songs to put in playlist. • Dynamic playlist The user specifies the rule (such as artist or genre) for selecting songs to put in the playlist. The actual songs are selected automatically by this program.
5 Playlists Creating a dynamic playlist In the target library, you can create a playlist of automatically collected songs satisfying a specified condition (dynamic playlist). Each time a song is added to the library, it is checked according to a specified rule and automatically added to the dynamic playlist. 1 Click 2 Specify a rule. 3 Select song order. 4 If you select order other than [Random], click and check [Reverse] as necessary.
5 Playlists NOTE • You can create up to 99 playlists with up to 9999 songs per playlist. • You cannot set crossfade for dynamic playlist. • If [Live updating] is unchecked in the dynamic playlist dialog, the dynamic playlist is not updated automatically when songs are added to the library. Also, auto update stops when the specified limit is reached.
5 Playlists Creating an impression playlist In the target library, you can create a playlist of automatically collected songs with the specified theme (impression playlist). 1 In the file list view, right-click the song to be the theme of the impression playlist. 2 Click [Select songs focusing around this song] from the context menu. 3 Specify the playlist climax setting and playlist name.
5 Playlists 4 Set the number of songs limit and click [OK]. NOTE • Only songs that have completed data analysis are selected for auto playlist creation. Be sure to complete data analysis before automatically creating impression playlist because songs that have not completed data analysis are not included. Songs that have failed data analysis are not included in the impression playlist. • You can create up to 99 playlists with up to 9999 songs per playlist.
5 Playlists Setting playlist crossfade Cross-fade is a smooth transition from the end of one song to the beginning of next song. You can load multiple songs in a playlist to car audio as one continuous file by setting crossfade for a playlist. The songs are continuously cross faded when played on the car audio.

5 Playlists NOTE • The crossfade function cannot be set when a car audio without crossfade function is selected. • Select a song in the [Fade out] drop down list and click to play the crossfade part. • You can also set crossfade in the [Crossfade] tab of the Options dialog displayed by selection [Options] from the [Tools] menu. • You cannot set crossfade for dynamic playlist. • If a playlist with crossfade set is selected for synchronization, it may take some time to complete.
