Turn the transceiver power off in the following locations: • In explosive atmospheres (inflammable gas, dust particles, metallic powders, grain powders, etc.). • While taking on fuel or while parked at gasoline service stations. • Near explosives or blasting sites. • In aircraft. (Any use of the transceiver must follow the instructions and regulations provided by the airline crew.
Information concerning the battery pack: The battery pack includes flammable objects such as organic solvent. Mishandling may cause the battery to rupture producing flames or extreme heat, deteriorate, or cause other forms of damage to the battery. Please observe the following prohibitive matters. • • • • • • Do not disassemble or reconstruct battery! The battery pack has a safety function and protection circuit to avoid danger.

PREPARATION INSTALLING THE CHANNEL STOPPER You can set the channel stopper position for channels 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, and 14. Inserting the Channel stopper prevents unnecessarily selecting channels which do not exist. • Selecting a channel which does not exist causes a continuous error tone to sound. 1 Set the Channel selector to channel 1, then pull the Channel selector knob off the transceiver.
INSTALLING/ REMOVING THE BATTERY PACK ◆ ◆ Do not short the battery terminals or dispose of the battery by fire. Never attempt to remove the casing from the battery pack. 1 2 3 Align the battery pack with the back of the transceiver, then press the battery pack and transceiver firmly together until the release latch on the base of the transceiver locks. To remove the battery pack, lift the safety catch on the base of the transceiver, then press the release latch underneath the safety catch.
CHARGING THE BATTERY PACK The battery pack is not charged at the factory; charge it before use. ATTENTION: Always switch OFF a transceiver equipped with a battery pack before inserting the transceiver into the charger. 1 2 3 Plug the AC adapter cable into the jack located on the rear of the charger. Plug the AC adapter into an AC outlet. KSC-43 Only: Match the holder to the type of battery pack to be charged so that when inserting the holder, the battery type name can be seen on the bottom of the charger.
5 When charging is completed, the indicator lights green. Remove the battery pack or the transceiver from the charging slot of the charger. • • It takes approximately 3 hours to charge the battery pack. When the charger will not be used for a long time, unplug the AC adapter from the AC outlet. Note: ◆ When the indicator blinks red, the battery pack is either defective or the battery pack contacts are not properly mated with those of the charger.
INSTALLING THE OPTIONAL SPEAKER/ MICROPHONE (OR HEADSET) Note: The transceiver is not fully water resistant when using a speaker/ microphone or headset. 1 Insert the speaker/ microphone (or headset) plugs into the speaker/ microphone jacks of the transceiver. 6 2 Place the locking bracket over the speaker/ microphone (or headset) plugs so that the locking tabs insert into the transceiver grooves. • Push down on the locking bracket to slide it into place.

PROGRAMMABLE AUXILIARY FUNCTIONS Your dealer can program the Side 1 and Side 2 keys each with one of the functions listed below. Note: The duration of pressing a key to activate a function is dependent on your dealer setting. Your dealer may have set some keys to be held down for a short duration instead of being momentarily pressed. Ask your dealer for details on which keys need to be held down to activate their functions. ■ None No function has been programmed.
■ Key Lock with Status Memory This operates the same as Key Lock except that when the transceiver power is turned OFF and then ON again, the keys remains locked. ■ Lone Worker Lone Worker Mode is a safety feature built into the transceiver. If the transceiver is not operated for a pre-programmed period of time, the transceiver will emit a tone and automatically enter Emergency operation. Press this key to toggle the Lone Worker function ON or OFF.
■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ ■ 1 2 When scan pauses at an undesired channel, you can remove that channel from the scanning sequence by pressing or holding this key. Scrambler/Encryption The Scrambler (analog) and Encryption (NXDN) function allows you to hold a conversation in complete privacy. When activated, any other party listening in on your channel will be unable to understand your conversation. Press this key to toggle the Scrambler/Encryption function ON or OFF.
BASIC OPERATIONS SWITCHING POWER ON/OFF Turn the Power switch/ Volume control clockwise to switch the transceiver ON. Turn the Power switch/ Volume control counterclockwise fully to switch the transceiver OFF. ■ Transceiver Password If your transceiver is password protected, the LED will light blue when you turn the transceiver ON. Enter the password (up to 4 digits) using the following procedure. 1 Set the Channel selector to position “1”. 2 Press the Side 1 or Side 2 key to enter the first digit.
SELECTING A ZONE AND CHANNEL 1 Select the desired zone using the key programmed as [Zone Up] or [Zone Down]. 2 Select the desired channel using the Channel selector. • • Each zone contains a group of channels. Each channel is programmed with settings for transmitting and receiving. TRANSMITTING 1 2 Select the desired zone and channel. Press the key programmed as [Monitor] or [Squelch Off] to check whether or not the channel is free. 3 Press the PTT switch and speak into the microphone.

VOICE OPERATED TRANSMISSION (VOX) VOX operation allows you to transmit hands-free. This feature must first be activated by your dealer, and can only be used if you are using a supported headset. VOX can be turned off for specific channels by your dealer. To activate VOX and set the VOX Gain level, perform the following steps: 1 Connect a headset to the transceiver. • 2 3 With the transceiver power OFF, press and hold the Side 1 key while turning the transceiver power ON.
NXDN NXDN is a general term for the NXDN wireless communication protocol which uses 4 Level FSK. Various data communications, including individual and group voice communications, Status calls, and GPS data transmission, are possible. INDIVIDUAL/GROUP CALLS Each channel is set up with an individual or group ID list number. To make a call, select the channel with the ID list number you wish to call, then press the PTT switch to start the call.
BACKGROUND OPERATIONS TIME-OUT TIMER (TOT) The Time-out Timer prevents callers from using a channel for an extended duration. If you continuously transmit for the duration programmed by your dealer (default is 1 minute), transmission will stop and a warning tone will sound. To stop the tone, release the PTT switch. BATTERY SAVER When activated by your dealer, the Battery Saver function decreases the amount of power used after no signal is present and no operations are being performed for 5 seconds.
If BCL Override has been programmed, you can transmit over the current signal: 1 2 3 Press and hold the PTT switch. • If the channel is already in use, a warning tone will sound. Quickly release and then press the PTT switch again. Speak into the transceiver as you would during a normal call. PTT ID PTT ID is the transceiver unique ID code which is sent each time the PTT switch is pressed and/or released. Note: PTT ID can be made only in analog operation.
■ 2-Tone 2-tone Signaling opens the squelch only when your transceiver receives a call containing matching 2 tones. ■ FleetSync Utilizing JVC KENWOOD’s FleetSync digital signaling protocol, this transceiver has PTT ID and Selective Calling capabilities for managed dispatch operations. For hazardous/hostile duty environments, the Side1 or Side 2 key can be programmed for Emergency status to alert the dispatcher and/or operator in distress.

PRÉPARATION INSTALLATION DE LA BUTÉE DE CANAL Vous pouvez régler la position de la butée des canaux 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12 et 14. L’insertion de la butée des canaux évite la sélection inutile de canaux qui n’existent pas. • La sélection d’un canal qui n’existe pas entraîne l’émission d’une tonalité d’erreur continue. 1 Placez le sélecteur de canal sur le canal 1, ensuite, retirez le bouton du sélecteur de canal de l’émetteur-récepteur.
POSE/ DÉPOSE DU BLOC-PILES ATTENTION ◆ ◆ Ne court-circuitez pas les bornes de la batterie et ne la détruisez pas en la brûlant. Ne tentez jamais d’enlever le boîtier du bloc-piles. 1 Alignez le bloc-piles avec l’arrière de l’émetteur-récepteur, ensuite, appuyez fermement sur le bloc-piles et l’émetteurrécepteur en même temps jusqu’à ce que le loquet de blocage sur la base de l’émetteur-récepteur soit verrouillé.

INSTALLATION DU MICROPHONE A HAUT PARLEUR OPTIONNEL (OU DU CASQUE TELEPHONIQUE) Remarque : L’émetteur-récepteur n’est pas totalement résistant à l’eau lorsque vous utilisez un microphone à haut-parleur ou un casque téléphonique. 1 Insérez les fiches du microphone à haut parleur optionnel (ou du casque téléphonique) dans les prises du microphone à haut-parleur de l’émetteur-récepteur.

FONCTIONS AUXILIAIRES PROGRAMMABLES Votre revendeur peut programmer les touches Latérale 1 et Latérale 2 avec l’une des fonctions énumérées ci-dessous. Remarque : La durée pendant laquelle vous devez appuyer sur une touche pour activer une fonction varie en fonction du réglage de votre revendeur. Votre revendeur a pu régler certaines touches afin qu’une pression brève suffise au lieu d’une pression longue.
■ Verrouillage des touches avec mémoire d’état Cette fonction est similaire au verrouillage des touches, la seule différence étant que l’émetteur-récepteur est mis hors tension, puis de nouveau sous tension et que les touches restent verrouillées. ■ Travailleur seul Le mode travailleur seul est une fonctionnalité de sécurité intégrée à l’émetteur-récepteur.
■ Exclusion temporaire du balayage Lorsque le balayage s’arrête sur un canal non souhaité, vous pouvez supprimer le canal en question de la séquence de balayage en appuyant et maintenant enfoncée cette touche. ■ Embrouilleur/ Codage La fonction embrouilleur (analogique) et la fonction codage (NXDN) vous permet de tenir une conversation de façon totalement privée. Lorsque cette fonction est activée, toute autre partie écoutant votre canal sera dans l’impossibilité de comprendre votre conversation.
FONCTIONNEMENT DE BASE MISE SOUS/ HORS TENSION Tournez le Commutateur d’alimentation/ Commande de volume dans le sens horaire pour mettre l’émetteur-récepteur sous tension. Tournez complètement le Commutateur d’alimentation/ Commande de volume dans le sens antihoraire pour mettre l’émetteur-récepteur hors tension. ■ MOT DE PASSE ÉMETTEUR-RÉCEPTEUR Si votre émetteur-récepteur est protégé par un mot de passe, le voyant DEL s’allume en bleu lorsque vous mettez l’émetteurrécepteur sous tension.
SÉLECTION D’UNE ZONE ET D’UN CANAL 1 Sélectionnez la zone souhaitée à l’aide de la touche programmée pour [Zone haut] ou [Zone bas]. • Chaque zone comprend un groupe de canaux. 2 Sélectionnez le canal souhaité à l’aide du sélecteur de Canal. • Chaque canal est programmé avec des réglages de transmission et de réception. ÉMISSION COMMANDÉE PAR LA VOIX (VOX) L’utilisation du circuit VOX vous permet de transmettre à mains libres. Cette fonction doit d’abord être mise en service par votre revendeur et ne peut être utilisée que si vous utilisez un casque téléphonique pris en charge. Votre revendeur peut désactiver la fonction VOX pour certains canaux. Pour activer VOX et régler le niveau de gain VOX, exécutez les étapes suivantes : 1 Raccordez un casque téléphonique à l’émetteur-récepteur.
NXDN NXDN est un terme général pour le protocole de communication sans fil NXDN qui utilise la technologie FSK de 4 niveaux. Plusieurs communications de données, y compris les communications individuelles et vocales de groupe, les appels d’état et la transmission de données GPS sont possibles. APPELS INDIVIDUELS/DE GROUPE Chaque canal est configuré avec un numéro de liste d’ID de groupe ou individuel.
OPÉRATIONS EN ARRIÈRE PLAN TEMPORISATEUR D’ARRÊT (TOT) Le temporisateur d’arrêt bloque l’accès des appelants à un canal pendant une longue durée. Si vous transmettez en permanence pendant la durée programmée par le revendeur (la valeur par défaut est d’une minute), la transmission est interrompue et une tonalité d’avertissement est émise. Pour arrêter la tonalité, relâchez le commutateur PTT.
Si la priorité BCL a été programmée, vous pouvez transmettre audessus du signal actuel : 1 Appuyez et maintenez enfoncé le commutateur PTT. • Si le canal est déjà en cours d’utilisation, une tonalité d’avertissement retentit. 2 Relâchez rapidement, ensuite, appuyez à nouveau sur le commutateur PTT. 3 Parlez dans l’émetteur-récepteur pendant un appel normal. ID PTT L’ID PTT est un code ID unique de l’émetteur-récepteur qui est envoyé chaque fois que le commutateur PTT est enfoncé et/ou relâché.
■ 2 tonalité La signalisation à 2 tonalités n’ouvre le silencieux que si votre émetteur-récepteur reçoit un appel contenant les 2 tonalités correspondantes. ■ FleetSync Le protocole de signalisation numérique FleetSync de JVC KENWOOD permet à l’émetteur-récepteur de disposer de fonctionnalités d’appel sélectif et d’identifiant PTT pour les opérations d’expédition gérée.

PREPARATIVOS INSTALACIÓN DEL TAPÓN DE CANALES Puede ajustar la posición del tapón de canales para canales 2, 4, 6, 8, 10. 12 y 14. Al insertar el tapón de canales se evita la selección innecesaria de canales inexistentes. • Si se selecciona in canal inexistente, sonará un tono de error continuo. 1 Ajuste el selector de canales en el canal 1 y, a continuación, tire del mando selector de canales para sacarlo del transceptor.
INSTALACIÓN/ EXTRACCIÓN DE LA BATERÍA PRECAUCIÓN ◆ ◆ No cortocircuite los terminales de la batería ni arroje la batería al fuego. No intente retirar la carcasa de la batería. 1 Alinee la batería con la parte posterior del transceptor, y luego apriete la batería y el transceptor fuertemente hasta que la pestaña de liberación situada en la parte inferior del transceptor chasquee.
CARGA DE LA BATERÍA Como la batería no viene cargado de fábrica, deberá cargarlo antes de utilizarlo. ATENCIÓN: Desconecte siempre el transceptor equipado con batería antes de insertarlo en el cargador. 1 Enchufe el cable del adaptador de CA en el jack situado en la parte posterior del cargador. 2 Enchufe el adaptador de CA en la toma de CA.
5 Una vez finalizada la carga, el indicador se ilumina de color verde. Retire la batería o el transceptor de la ranura de carga del cargador. • La batería tarda 3 horas aproximadamente en cargarse. • Cuando no se vaya a utilizar el cargador durante un tiempo prolongado, desenchufe el adaptador de CA de la toma de CA. Notas: ◆ ◆ ◆ ◆ Cuando el indicador parpadea de color rojo, la batería está defectuosa o los contactos no están bien acoplados a los del cargador.
INSTALACIÓN DEL MICRÓFONO/ ALTAVOZ (O MICRÓFONOAURICULAR) OPCIONAL Nota: El transceptor no es totalmente resistente al agua cuando se utiliza un micrófono/ altavoz o un micrófono-auricular. 1 Inserte las clavijas del micrófono/ altavoz (o micrófono-auricular) en los jacks del micrófono/ altavoz del transceptor. E-6 2 Coloque el soporte de fijación sobre las clavijas del micrófono/ altavoz (o micrófono-auricular) de forma que las pestañas de bloqueo entren en las ranuras del transceptor.

Para apagar el transceptor, gírelo hacia la izquierda hasta que oiga un clic. Gírelo para ajustar el nivel de volumen.
FUNCIONES AUXILIARES PROGRAMABLES El proveedor puede programar las teclas Lateral 1 y Lateral 2 cada una con una de las funciones siguientes. Nota: La duración de las pulsaciones de tecla para activar una función depende de cómo la haya ajustado el proveedor. El proveedor puede que haya ajustado algunas teclas para que sean pulsadas brevemente y no de forma prolongada. Consulte al proveedor para que le informe detalladamente sobre qué teclas hay que pulsar prolongadamente para activar sus funciones.
■ Bloqueo de teclas con memoria de estado Esta función es parecida a la de bloqueo de teclas, salvo que las teclas permanecen bloqueadas cuando el transceptor se apaga y se vuelve a encender. ■ Trabajador solo El modo trabajador solo es una característica de seguridad que incorpora el transceptor. Si el transceptor no se utiliza durante un periodo de tiempo preprogramado, emitirá un tono y pasará automáticamente al modo de emergencia. Pulse esta tecla para activar o desactivar la función trabajador solo.
■ Exploración con borrado temporal Cuando la exploración se detiene en un canal no deseado, puede eliminar dicho canal de la secuencia de exploración pulsando esta tecla de forma breve o prolongada. ■ Mezclador/Cifrado La función mezclador (analógica) y de cifrado (NXDN) le permite mantener una conversación con total privacidad. Una vez activada esta función, los usuarios que escuchen en su canal no podrá entender la conversación. Pulse esta tecla para activar o desactivar la función mezclador/cifrado.
OPERACIONES BÁSICAS ENCENDIDO Y APAGADO Gire el interruptor de Encendido/ control de Volumen hacia la derecha para encender el transceptor. Gire el interruptor de Encendido/ control de Volumen completamente hacia la izquierda para apagar el transceptor. ■ CLAVE DEL TRANSCEPTOR Si el transceptor está protegido mediante clave, el indicador LED se iluminará en azul al encender el aparato. Introduzca la clave (de hasta 4 dígitos) siguiendo estos pasos. 1 Ajuste el selector de Canales en la posición “1”.
SELECCIÓN DE UNA ZONA Y CANAL 1 Seleccione la zona deseada utilizando la tecla programada con la función [Zona arriba] o [Zona abajo]. • Cada zona contiene un grupo de canales. 2 Seleccione el canal deseado utilizando el selector de Canales. • Cada canal viene programado con ajustes de transmisión y de recepción. TRANSMISIÓN 1 Seleccione la zona y el canal deseados. 2 Pulse la tecla programada con la función [Monitor] o [Desactivar silenciamiento] para comprobar si el canal está libre.

TRANSMISIÓN ACTIVADA POR VOZ (VOX) El uso de VOX le permite transmitir en modo manos libres. Esta función debe activarla previamente el proveedor y sólo puede utilizarse si usa un micrófono-auricular compatible. Su proveedor puede desactivar la función VOX para determinados canales. Para activar VOX y ajustar su nivel de ganancia, siga estos pasos: 1 Conecte un micrófono-auricular al transceptor.
NXDN NXDN es un nombre genérico del protocolo de comunicaciones inalámbricas NXDN que emplea tecnología FSK de 4 niveles. Permite realizar distintos tipos de comunicaciones de datos, como comunicaciones por voz en grupo e individuales, llamadas de estado y transmisión de datos GPS. LLAMADAS INDIVIDUALES/DE GRUPO Cada canal está programado con un número de la lista de ID de grupo o individual.
OPERACIONES DE FONDO TEMPORIZADOR DE TIEMPO LÍMITE (TOT) El temporizador de tiempo límite impide que las personas que realicen una llamada utilicen un canal durante demasiado tiempo. Si transmite ininterrumpidamente durante el tiempo programado por el proveedor (valor predeterminado 1 minuto), se detendrá la transmisión y sonará un tono de aviso. Para parar el tono, suelte el conmutador PTT.
Si se ha programado la anulación de BCL, puede transmitir sobre la señal actual: 1 Presione prolongadamente el conmutador PTT. • Si el canal ya está en uso, sonará un tono de aviso. 2 Suelte rápidamente y vuelva a presionar el conmutador PTT. 3 Hable al transceptor igual que en una llamada normal. ID DE PTT El ID de PTT es el código ID exclusivo del transceptor que se envía cada vez que se presiona y/o suelta el conmutador PTT. Nota: El ID de PTT sólo se puede crear en funcionamiento analógico.
■ 2 tonos Con señalización de 2 tonos el silenciamiento se abre únicamente cuando el transceptor recibe una llamada que contiene 2 tonos coincidentes. ■ FleetSync Gracias al protocolo de señales digitales FleetSync de JVC KENWOOD este transceptor dispone de funciones ID PTT y Llamada selectiva para las operaciones de repuesta controladas.
