Drum Set
The rhythm section of the SD1 uses both the Drum Sets and the Live Drums. The Drum Sets are assigned to the Drum 1 track (channel MIDI 10),
whereas the Live Drums are assigned to the Drum 2 track (channel MIDI 9) within a style.
The SD1 is equipped with 24 preset Drum Sets and 24 additional User Drum Sets that can be freely programmed by the user.
PLAYING A DRUM SET
Simply press the MANUAL DRUM button if you wish to play a Drum Set on your keyboard. If a style is being played, also the Drum track will
remain active, but you will not be able to change the chord until you deactivate the MANUAL DRUM button.
If you wish to change the Drum Set assigned to the Drum 1 track, and as a consequence also the Drum Set to be played on the keyboard, press
the DRUM SET button to display all the available Drum Sets, including the Live Drum Sets. If you wish to select one of them, simply press the
function button relevant to the Drum Set and use the PAGE +/- buttons or the first six VOICE buttons to go to the next pages.
It may be useful to transpose the instruments by one octave. For doing so, press the OCTAVE button.
The Drum Sets marked with a small circle are User Drum Sets stored in the internal memory and can be modified by the user.
LIVE DRUM SETS
The SD1 features an innovation of the electronic keyboard technology, allowing you to achieve a fluidity and musicality of the rhythms that so
far have been simply inconceivable. All this is the result of extensive musical research and complex processing of sampled grooves. With the
SD1, in fact, the groove is not a simple file audio combined with the rhythm, but an actual Live Drum Set where the single instruments are sep-
arated for each single key of the keyboard. This particular feature on the one hand allows you to use the grooves at different speeds without
important changes on the intonation, and on the other hand it enables you to arrange the rhythm according to your own taste. Using the Live
Drum Sets on a separate track makes it possible to complete the rhythm section with the usual Drum Sets and to combine groups of similar
instruments in Arrange Wiev. It is not possible to play Live Drum Set directly on the keyboard. The only moment in which you can listen to it and
especially play it is while editing the Style. The instruments’ disposition in a Live Drum Set is substantially different from the one in a usual
Drum Set, so before you will be in a position to use it properly you need some time to get used to it.
