 Example 6 When using GL-RHG as safety device for press machine in China
Safety distance calculation according to GB4584: 2007
 For a press machine of which the slide can stop at any position
Equation S = K × T + C
S : Safety distance (mm)
K : Speed when a body or part of body approaches the danger zone (mm/s.)
When the light curtain is installed horizontally, use 1600 mm/s.
When the light curtain is installed vertically, use 2000 mm/s if the safety distance does
not exceed 500 mm and use 1600 mm/s if exceeds 500 mm.
T : Response time of the whole press machine control system (s) (T = t1 + t2)
t1 : GL-RHG Maximum response time " Response time (OSSD)" page 7-5
t2 : Maximum time required by the machine to stop after receiving a signal from the safety
device (GL-RHG), (s)
C : Additional distance (mm)
If the press machine control system does not prevent the unintended start-up and/or the
unintended restart of the machine (Interlock function of the machine is not applied), C fol-
lows the table below.
If the interlock function of the machine is applied, C = 0 can be set.
