KEY180.4 AMPLIFIER OWNER’S MANUAL IMPORTANT SAFETY WARNING PROLONGED CONTINUOUS OPERATION OF AN AMPLIFIER, SPEAKER, OR SUBWOOFER IN A DISTORTED, CLIPPED OR OVER-POWERED MANNER CAN CAUSE YOUR AUDIO SYSTEM TO OVERHEAT, POSSIBLY CATCHING FIRE AND RESULTING IN SERIOUS DAMAGE TO YOUR COMPONENTS AND/OR VEHICLE. AMPLIFIERS REQUIRE UP TO 4 INCHES (10CM) OPEN VENTILATION. SUBWOOFERS SHOULD BE MOUNTED WITH AT LEAST 1 INCH (2.5CM) CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE FRONT OF THE SPEAKER AND ANY SURFACE.
Wiring: Disconnect the vehicle’s battery to avoid an electrical short. Then connect the ground wire to the amplifier. Make the ground wire short, 24” (60cm) or less, and connect it to a paint-and-corrosion-free, solid, metal area of the vehicle’s chassis. Adding an additional ground wire of this same gauge (or larger) between the battery’s negative post and the vehicle chassis is recommended. Keep the audio signal cable away from factory wiring harnesses and other power wiring.
If needed, cut off the RCA connections to use hi-level input. For multiple amplifier installations where distribution blocks are used, each amplifier should have its proper-rated fuse, or breaker, installed between the amplifier and the distribution block within eighteen inches of the block, or on the distribution block if it provides for fusing.

Using the DC Offset mode causes the REM wire to have +12V out for turning on additional amplifiers.
TIME DELAY: Set to enable (EN) for all speaker’s output to reach the driver or microphone location at the same time. Set to defeat (DF) to turn time delay off. KICKER EQ: Set to enable (EN) to turn KICKER EQ on (recommended), set to defeat (DF) to turn KICKER EQ off. When OFF, the frequency response curve will be flat. BI-AMP MODE: The majority of systems require this switch to be OFF. Turn ON only if your speakers are wired in “Bi-Amp” mode (refer to BI-AMP operation picture on page 5).
KEY AUTO SETUP KEY Activation Button The KEY Activation Button is a multi-function button attached to the included microphone that will begin the Auto Setup process, toggle between Auto Setup optimized audio and the original audio once the Auto Setup process has been completed, or clear previous Auto Setup settings. The Auto Setup consists of several tune-up steps including individual speaker equalization, KICKER EQ, time delay and speaker sensitivity matching.
Q: Can I put more than one KEY amplifier in my car? A: Yes, however the Auto Setup program is designed to optimize the front-sound stage only. Only one KEY amplifier can use the Auto Setup feature. Q: Can I use the KEY amplifier in addition to a subwoofer: A: Yes, but care must be taken. Make sure you disconnect your subwoofer prior to the Auto Setup process. The subwoofer must stay quiet during the Auto Setup so the KEY amp can hear what the car speakers sound like without interference.
TROUBLESHOOTING If your amplifier does not appear to be working, check the obvious things first such as blown fuses, poor or incorrect wiring connections, incorrect setting of crossover switch and gain controls, etc. There are Power (PWR) & Protection (PRT) LEDs on the side panel of your KICKER KEY series amplifier. Depending on the state of the amplifier and the vehicle’s charging system, the LEDs will glow either green or red.

Cableado: Desconecte la batería del vehículo para evitar un cortocircuito eléctrico. Luego conecte el cable de tierra al amplificador. Recorte el cable de tierra para que mida 24” (60 cm) o menos, y conéctelo a un área de metal sólida libre de pintura y corrosión del chasis del vehículo. Se recomienda agregar otro cable de tierra de esta longitud (o más largo) entre el polo negativo de la batería y el chasis del vehículo.
De ser necesario, desconecte las conexiones RCA para utilizar la entrada de alto nivel. Para múltiples instalaciones de amplificadores en las que se utilicen bloques de distribución, cada amplificador debe tener su fusible, o interruptor, de la capacidad correcta instalado entre el amplificador y el bloque de distribución a una distancia máxima de 18 pulgadas del bloque, o bien en el bloque de distribución si provee conexión al fusible.

RESOLUCIÓN DE PROBLEMAS Si su amplificador parece no estar funcionando, revise lo obvio primero: fusibles quemados, conexiones malas o incorrectas, posición incorrecta de los selectores de crossover y amplificación, etc. Su amplificador modelo KX de KICKER cuenta con los LED de protección (PRT) y de encendido (PWR) en el panel de alimentación lateral. Dependiendo del estado del amplificador y del sistema de carga del vehículo, los LED se iluminarán en verde o en rojo.

Branchement : débranchez la batterie du véhicule pour éviter tout court-circuit. Puis reliez le fil de terre à l'amplificateur. Prenez un fil de terre court, 60 cm (24 po.) ou moins, et branchez-le à un endroit métallique, solide, exempt de peinture et de corrosion sur le châssis du véhicule. Il est recommandé d'ajouter un deuxième fil de raccordement à la terre du même calibre (ou plus grand) entre la borne négative de la batterie et le châssis du véhicule.
Coupez, au besoin, les connexions RCA pour utiliser une entrée haute. Pour les installations comportant plusieurs amplificateurs, dans lesquels des blocs de distribution sont utilisés, chaque amplificateur doit posséder son propre fusible ou disjoncteur de calibre approprié, installé entre l’amplificateur et le bloc de distribution, à moins de 46 cm du bloc de répartition, ou sur le bloc de répartition si celui-ci dispose d’un fusible.

• Haut-parleurs de graves et d'aigus : passe-haut 3,2 kHz 24 dB/octave pour les haut-parleurs d'aigus, passebas 3,2 kHz pour les haut-parleurs de graves. • Haut-parleurs de graves et haut-parleurs de tableau de bord : passe-haut 320 Hz 24 dB/octave pour les haut-parleurs de tableau de bord, passe-bas 640 Hz pour les haut-parleurs de graves. TIME DELAY (délai) : activez-le (position EN) pour que toutes les sorties du haut-parleur atteignent le conducteur ou la position du microphone en même temps.
AUTO-CONFIGURATION DU KEY Le bouton d'activation du KEY est un bouton multifonction situé sur le microphone fourni et qui démarrera la procédure d'auto-configuration, fera passer d'un signal audio optimisé par auto-configuration à l'audio d'origine une fois la procédure d'auto-configuration terminée, ou l'annulation des réglages d'auto-configuration précédents.
Q : Puis-je utiliser l'amplificateur KEY avec un haut-parleur de graves ? R : Oui, mais il faut faire attention. Veillez à débrancher votre haut-parleur de graves avant la procédure d'auto-configuration. Le haut-parleur de graves doit rester silencieux pendant l'auto-configuration afin que l'ampli KEY puisse écouter la sonorité des haut-parleurs de la voiture sans interférence.
EN CAS DE DIFFICULTÉ Si votre amplifi cateur ne marche pas, vérifi ez d’abord les possibilités évidentes comme les fusibles sautés, les branchements incorrects ou desserrés, le mauvais réglage des commandes de gain et du commutateur du filtre etc. Se présentent également des DEL d’alimentation (PWR) et de protection (PRT) sur le panneau d’alimentation latéral de votre amplificateur KICKER de série CX. Selon l’état de l’amplificateur et le système de charge du véhicule, les DEL clignotent en vert ou rouge.

Verdrahtung: Diskonnektieren Sie die Fahrzeugbatterie, um einen elektrischen Kurzschluss zu vermeiden. Verbinden Sie dann den Schutzleiter mit dem Verstärker. Machen Sie den Schutzleiter kürzer, 60 cm oder weniger, und verbinden Sie ihn mit einem farb- und rostfreien, soliden Metallbereich der Fahrzeugkarosserie. Es wird empfohlen, einen weiteren Schutzleiter von gleicher Stärke (oder stärker) zwischen dem negativen Pol der Batterie und der Fahrzeugkarosserie hinzuzufügen.
Durchtrennen Sie gegebenenfalls die RCA-Verbindungen, um einen High-Level-Input zu verwenden. Falls beim Einbau mehrerer Verstärker Verteilerblöcke verwendet werden, sollte jeder Verstärker über eine eigene ordnungsgemäß zugelassene Sicherung (oder einen Schutzschalter) verfügen, die zwischen Verstärker und Verteilerblock eingebaut werden sollte (innerhalb von 45 cm vom Block) oder auf dem Verteilerblock, falls dieser die Sicherung übernimmt.

KEY-AUTOSETUP KEY-Aktivierungstaste Die KEY-Aktivierungstaste ist eine multifunktionale Taste, die an dem enthaltenen Mikrofon angebracht ist und den Autosetup-Vorgang beginnen wird. Wechseln Sie zwischen dem durch Autosetup optimierten Audio und dem originalen Audio, wenn der Autosetup-Vorgang abgeschlossen ist, oder löschen Sie vorherige Autosetup-Einstellungen.
A: Ja, doch Vorsicht ist geboten. Stellen Sie sicher, dass Sie Ihren Subwoofer vor dem Autosetup-Vorgang diskonnektieren. Der Subwoofer muss während des Autosetups ruhig bleiben, damit der KEY-Verstärker hören kann, wie die Autolautsprecher ohne Interferenz klingen.
PROBLEMBEHEBUNG Wenn der Verstärker nicht zu funktionieren scheint, sollten Sie zuerst offensichtliche Faktoren prüfen, wie durchgebrannte Sicherungen, schlechte oder fehlerhafte Verkabelung, inkorrekte Einstellung des Crossover-Schalters und der Verstärkungsregler etc. Am seitlichen Einschaltfeld des KICKER DXA-Verstärkers befinden sich eine Netz-LED (PWR) und eine Schutz-LED (PRT). Abhängig vom Einschaltzustand des Verstärkers und des Ladesystems des Fahrzeugs leuchten die LED-Anzeigen grün oder rot.
ELECTRONICS LIMITED WARRANTY When purchased from an Authorized KICKER Dealer, KICKER warrants this product to be free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use for a period of TWO (2) YEARS from date of original purchase with receipt. If this product is identified as “Refurbished” or “B Goods”, the warranty is limited to a period of THREE (3) MONTHS from the date of original purchase. In all cases you must have the original receipt.
INTERNATIONAL WARRANTY Contact your International KICKER dealer or distributor concerning specific procedures for your country’s warranty policies. WARNING: KICKER products are capable of producing sound levels that can permanently damage your hearing! Turning up a system to a level that has audible distortion is more damaging to your ears than listening to an undistorted system at the same volume level.
