Installation
The Kicker KM subwoofer is designed to be extremely versatile. The KM subwoofer excels in a sealed
or vented box, and it surpasses the competition on an infinite baffle (free-air) installation.
InfiniteBaffleMounting
The infinite baffle mounting method effectively utilizes the storage space of most boats. Use caution
when mounting speakers through any panel of the boat. Please be aware of wiring harnesses, springs,
hinges, and folding seat mechanisms that may interfere with the operation of the boat or speaker
system. Mark the panel for the hole cut-out diameter of the subwoofer and cut the hole. See Figure 3.

To optimize the infinite baffle installation, prevent the rear sound waves (generated from the back of the
subwoofer cone) from entering the passenger area of the boat. Gaps or holes in the storage space may
be filled with silicone.
SealedEnclosureApplications
The KM subwoofer generates more sound pressure than competing marine subwoofers on the market
and excels when used in the recommended sealed boxes. These sealed enclosure designs give the
smoothest respo
nse with increased energy at the lowest frequencies, 20 to 30Hz. These designs
deliver massive amounts of highly-accurate bass and can be driven with punishing levels of amplifier
power.
The KM subwoofer high perform
ance suspension system can operate in a larger sealed enclosure. This
maximum enclosure volume application is ideal for SQ (ultra sound quality) installations. The SQ
enclosure generates a very flat response curve and superbly extends the subbass response.
KM subwoofers perform well in any size sealed enclosure between the Compact and SQ volume
recommendations. These systems
will exhibit benefits of both designs: Compact produces high-impact
bass, and SQ generates low bass frequency protraction. Overall, the system will sound more like the
recommended enclosure design it
is closest to in enclosure volume. These enclosure recommendations
have been calculated with the airspace inside the enclosure and include the displacement of the
woofer.

Please allow two weeks of break-in time for the subwoofer to reach optimum bass performance.
Note: The use of a subsonic filter will significantly increase the power handling. The power handling specifications
in these charts are calculated using a 25Hz, 24dB per octave subsonic filter.

Wiring
Carefully place the speaker wire in a location that is
clear of standing water and moving components
of the vessel. The terminal cover is removable
for wiring installation, and when locked-in-place,
it
aids in ignition protection. Connect the
speaker wire to the speaker terminals, then
loop the positive and negative wires up, back
down, then together, and up through the sl
ot in the
terminal cover. See Figures 1 and 2.
