Foam Extinguisher
SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
PLEASE READ THIS MANUAL AND THE LABELS ON YOUR
FIRE EXTINGUISHER NOW! IN AN EMERGENCY, THERE
WON’T BE TIME!
How To Use Your Extinguisher
1. USE UPRIGHT.
PULL OUT SAFETY CLIP.
2. STAND BACK 6 FEET (2 METERS).
AIM HOSE AT FIRE.
3. SQUEEZE LEVER TO
DISCHARGE CONTENTS.
Do not attempt to fight any fire that instills doubt of your safety
because it is either too large or in a an unsafe area. Simply leave
the area and call for help.
WARNING
FAILURE TO COMPLY WITH THE FOLLOWING WARNINGS MAY
RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY FROM A DIRECT ELECTRICAL
PATH RESULTING IN ELECTROCUTION OF THE USER AND
OTHERS IN THE AREA:
STAND CLEAR OF ANY PUDDLES, INCLUDING EXTINGUISHER
CONTENTS, DURING AND AFTER USE TO AVOID CONTACT
WITH ELECTRICITY FROM APPLIANCES, FRAYED POWER AND
EXTENSION CORDS, ETC.
PRIOR TO CLEANUP AFTER A FIRE, ENSURE THAT ALL
ELECTRICAL DEVICES ARE ISOLATED FROM ELECTRICAL
POWER BY TURNING OFF POWER SWITCHES OR OPENING
CIRCUIT BREAKERS.
WARNING
NEVER use this extinguisher on commercial deep fat fryers or other
large bodies of cooking oil. The extinguisher contents are water
based and may react violently with the hot oil, resulting in burns from
flying oil.
WARNING
NEVER use this extinguisher on alcohol fires if the amount of alcohol
is more than 1 quart.
WARNING
This extinguisher is a PRESSURIZED container. Propellant gas is
compressed nitrogen.
DO NOT incinerate. Discharge and replace after ANY use.
Install extinguisher in a location that does not exceed manufacturer
specified temperature range of +14° F to +140°F.
DO NOT discharge at a persons face.
Keep children AWAY from extinguisher.
CAUTION
Avoid direct contact with OR inhalation of extinguisher contents.
Extinguisher contents are not toxic but may cause eye, respiratory or
skin irritation. In case of contact, flush eyes or skin with clean, cool
water for 15 minutes. If irritation persists, contact a physician
IMMEDIATELY. The chemical names of extinguisher contents are
printed on extinguisher label.
EXTINGUISHER INSPECTION AND MAINTENANCE
Inspect your fire extinguisher AT LEAST once a month, or more
frequently if exposed to weather or possible tampering, to ensure that it
will be ready when needed.
DO NOT use this extinguisher UNLESS:
The pointer on the extinguisher pressure gauge/indicator is in
the GREEN section;
The safety clip is intact;
The extinguisher has no serious dents, scratches, corrosion,
etc.; and,
The discharge nozzle is clean and free of obstructions.
To ALWAYS ensure satisfactory performance, replace extinguisher every
five years with a new Kidde foam extinguisher.
Contact local and state regulatory agencies for proper disposal method
of old foam fire extinguishers.
WARNING
NEVER test extinguisher by partially discharging. Loss of pressure
will occur and extinguisher MUST be replaced.
