Quick Set Up Installation Instructions Remove the three enclosed AA batteries and install them into the battery well. Carefully place the red battery warning flags into the battery well. Observe the battery polarity markings at the bottom of the battery well. When the batteries are first installed, the unit will beep once and the red alarm light will flash. After approximately 20-30 seconds the green light will flash indicating that the unit is operational. Replace battery cover.
Installation Instructions (cont.) • Insure that all vents of the unit are unobstructed. • Do not install in dead air spaces such as peaks of vaulted ceilings, or gabled roofs. • Do not install in turbulent air from ceiling fans. Do not place near fresh air vents or close to doors and windows that open to the outside. • Keep the CO alarm away from excessively dusty, dirty, or greasy areas such as kitchens, garages and furnace rooms. Dust, grease and household chemicals can affect the sensor.
Features and Operation (cont.) Battery Installation/Replacement Test/Reset Button Since batteries are not installed in the unit at the factory, you will need to install them. Your Kidde unit will continue to remind you to change the batteries for up to seven days after low batteries are detected. The test/reset button is used to test the unit’s electronics and to reset the unit during alarm (see figure 3).

Alarm/Danger Levels Caution: This CO alarm will only indicate the presence of CO at the sensor. CO may be present in other areas. Mild Exposure: Headaches, running nose, sore eyes, often described as “flu-like” symptoms. Alarm/Danger Levels (cont.) Concentration of CO in Air (ppm = parts per million) 50 ppm Medium Exposure: Dizziness, drowsiness, vomiting. Extreme Exposure: Unconsciousness, brain damage, death. 200 ppm Familiarization with the effects of each level is important.
Caring for your Kidde Battery Powered CO Alarm How to Care for Your Alarm To keep your CO alarm in good working order, you must follow these simple steps: •Test the alarm once a week by pressing the Test/Reset button •Vacuum the alarm cover once a month to remove accumulated dust. Use the soft brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner, and unplug the alarm from the electrical outlet before vacuuming. •Instruct children never to touch, unplug or otherwise interfere with the unit.
