If you happen to have one of these
1936 K-models, amazingly you would
still be able to use the attachments that
came with Arenss timeless stand mixer
in a machine bought today, as the
design remains pretty much intact.
New colours were introduced in 1994 -
Imperial Red, Cobalt Blue, Almond
Cream, Onyx Black, Matt Grey,
Brushed Nickel, Majestic Yellow,
Chrome and White then later, Pink,
Tangerine, Ice Blue, Green Apple,
Caviar, Pearl Metallic, and, new in
2008, the deeply desirable Chocolate,
Boysenberry and Bronze Pearl.
So, to the heart of the matter and
exactly what has made the KitchenAid
®
stand mixer, and the newest recruits to the ever expanding brand, the envy
of its competitors? In 2009, KitchenAid celebrates its 90th anniversary, and
just as it always was, the Artisan
®
stand mixer is a glamorous workhorse.
Still assembled by hand from sturdy die-cast metal parts, it’s strong and
stable; it sits solidly on the work surface and even when working at full
speed, there is not one wobble. Age has not withered the design either,
and its famous curves still come in the same deliciously shiny, but tough,
enamel coating.
But its also whats on the inside that remains crucial to
its success. Patented in 1919, the unique ‘planetary
action’ continues to work its magic in the Artisan
®
Stand
Mixer today. The beater rotates in one direction while it
whisks and turns in the other, and the machinery is
silent, reliable and long-lasting. The controls are
simplicity themselves to use.
Always looking towards the future, the KitchenAid
®
Artisan
®
Collection now includes a blender, toaster,
espresso maker and burr grinder, food processor and
waffle baker. Perhaps the most exciting development,
though, is the launch of premium, built-in major domestic
appliances including ovens, microwaves, hobs, cooker
hoods, fridges and dishwashers, all based on decades
of knowledge.
