Instructions for use Turning power on and off Inserting the memory card 1. Press the POWER button (1) to turn on the camera. 2. Long press the POWER button (1) to turn power off. The Splash camera doesn’t have any internal memory. To be able to record video or capture photos using the camera, you must have your micro SD card (at least class 4) inserted. Charging the battery 1. Ensure the camera is turned off. The camera has a built-in rechargeable lithium battery.
Changing the mode of the camera Recording videos The camera has 3 different modes: Capture mode, Video mode and Playback mode. 1. Turn on the camera and it will start in Video mode automatically. If in another mode, press the MODE button (10) to set the camera to Video mode. 1. Recording audio within a video Playback of files If using the camera with the waterproof case, audio will be recorded although it will be barely audible. For best audio quality, the camera will need to be used without the case. When using the camera without a case, please take extra care and make sure it does not get wet. 1. Viewing video files Changing the camera settings 1. When a video file is selected, press the SHUTTER button (1). General settings 2. The LCD screen (7) will show the options ‘Delete’ or ‘Play’. 1. To enter the general settings menu, press and hold the MODE button (10) whilst in either Video or Capture mode. 3. Press the MODE button (10) to select either ‘Delete’ or ‘Play’. 4. To watch a video, press the SHUTTER button (1) and select ‘Play’. 5. To stop the video, press the MODE button (10). 6.
14 MENU FUNCTION Date This function can be used to add a date to your pictures and videos as you take them. To set the date, select ‘Set Date’ and press the SHUTTER button (1). Edit each setting by using the SHUTTER (1) and MODE (10) buttons and when finished, press and hold the MODE button (10) to confirm. [On]/[off]/[Set the date] Auto power off To save power, the video camera is turned off automatically after a period of time.
Video mode settings 1. To enter the Video settings menu, press and hold the MODE (10) button whilst in Video mode. Anti-shake Use the function to help stabilise the image. [On]/[Off] Loop recording Set the loop recording time. This will determine how long each video recording is per file. [off]/[3minutes]/[5minutes]/[10minutes] Motion Detection Set the camera to stop the video recording automatically when it is not moving. When the camera moves again, it will start the recording automatically.
Capture mode settings Sharpness Set the sharpness of the picture. The sharpness level dictates if the edges of objects in the image are more or less distinct. [Sharp]/[Normal]/[Soft] Exposure Set the exposure value manually to compensate for unusual lighting conditions. [-3EV to +3EV] White balance Adjust the white balance to suit different light sources. [Auto]/[Daylight]/[Cloudy]/[Fluorescent]/ [Incandescent] Colour Set the colour effect.
Anti-shake Use the function to avoid taking blurry/out of focus photos.[On /[Off Continuous Shot Use this function to take 6 pictures continuously. [On /[Off Connecting the camera to an HDTV 1. Connect the Micro HDMI end of a micro HDMI to HDMI cable (not included) to the camera’s micro HDMI port (14), and the other end to the HDTV’s HDMI port. 2. Turn on the HDTV and select the appropriate HDMI source. 3. Follow the instructions for ‘Playback of files’ mentioned earlier in this manual. 4.
4. Copy the files that you want to your PC. Waterproof case How to use the PC camera function The Splash action camera includes a case that is waterproof up to 15 metres. When using the camera in a wet environment, always use the waterproof case. 1. Connect one end of the supplied USB cable to the camera’s micro USB jack (4), and the other end to the PC’s USB port and turn the camera on. Using the waterproof case 2.
Mount accessories In order to use the camera for various outdoor activities, we have provided three different mounts. • Mount (A) is used to fix the camera to the handlebars on a bike. • Mount (B) is used to fix it to a helmet. • Mount (C) is used to attach the camera to flat, clean, smooth surfaces.
Fixing the camera to a bike 1. Unscrew both screws and remove the metal ring of Mount A. ii. 2. Place the plastic section underneath the handlebar and place the metal ring over the handlebar. 3. Replace the screws and tighten them up. 4. If needed, choose extra connectors from the three shown and then fix them to part (i) of Mount A. i. 5. Screw connector (ii) directly to the camera or the camera case. 6. Attach the camera assembly to the Mount A assembly. 26 A.
Fixing the camera to a helmet 1. Fix connector (iii) to Mount B as shown. iii. ii.2. 2. If needed, choose extra connectors from the three shown and then fix them to connector (iii). 3. Screw connector (ii) directly to the camera or the camera case. 4. Attach the camera assembly to the Mount B assembly. 5. After fixing the camera to the mount correctly, use the strap to fix it to the helmet. Adjust the length according to the helmet’s size, and then tie the strap up to your helmet. 28 1. B.
Fixing the camera to a board/flat surface 1. Ensure the surface is clean and dry before applying the adhesive mount. iii. ii.2. 2. Peel off adhesive paper and stick the mount in the desired position. 3. Fix connector (iii) to Mount C as shown. 4. If needed, choose extra connectors from the three shown and then fix them connector (iii). 5. Screw connector (ii) directly to the camera or the camera case. 1. C. 6. Care for your Splash Troubleshooting Please DON’T: We hope you’ve now got all the information you need to get started, but if you’re having problems with anything, please feel free to contact us at: support@kitvision.co.uk or visit www.kitvision.co.uk • Get the Splash wet, unless sealed in the included waterproof case. • Drop the Splash as this will invalidate your warranty. • Open up the Splash. There are no user serviceable parts inside.
