HANDLEBAR HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
Thehandleheightmaybeadjusted.Loosenthe knobto changethe
position.Tightenhardwarewhencomplete.See Figure12.
OIL FILL CAP & DIPSTICK
Engineoil levelcan becheckedand oiladdedthroughtheoil fill. See
Figure12.
NOTE:ThisunitwasshippedWITHOUToil intheengine.Oilisincluded
inthe plasticbagpackedwiththemanualinwiththeunit.Addtheoilas
directedinthe Gas& OilFillUpsection.Checktheoil levelbeforeeach
operationtoensureadequateoilisintheengine.Forfurtherinstructions,
referto the stepsintheEngineMaintenancesectionof thismanual.
FORWARD TINE ENGAGEMENT LEVER
Theforwardtine engagementlevercontrolsthe engagementof the
tines.Releasethe leverto stopthetines.SeeFigure12.
TO START ENGINE
1. Attachsparkplugwireand rubberbootto sparkplug.
2. Fill tankto nomorethan 1/2 inchbelowbottomof fillerneckto
providespacefor fuel expansion.
3. Makesurethe fine clutchcontrolisdisengaged.
4. Movethe chokeleverontheengineto CHOKEI'_1 position.(A
warmenginemaynotrequirechoking.)SeeFigure13.

5. Movethrottlecontrolto START/RUN(Rabbit)_ position.See

6. Standingontheside of the unit,graspstarterhandleand pull
ropeoutuntilyoufeel adrag.
7. Pullthe ropewitha rapid,continuous,full armstroke.Keepa firm
griponthe starterhandle.Letthe roperewindslowly.
8. Repeat,if necessary,untilenginestarts.Whenenginestarts,
movechokecontrolgraduallytowardthe RUNI/t I position..
9. If enginefalters,movechokecontrolbacktowardtheCHOKE
i'_1 positionand repeatsteps5 though8.
10. ALWAYSkeepthe throttlecontrolintheSTART/RUN(Rabbit)
positionwhenoperatingthetiller.
TO STOP ENGINE
1. To stopthe wheelsandtines,releasethe ForwardClutchBail.
2. Movethrottlecontrolleverto slow(turtle)_ position.
Wheneverpossible,graduallyreduceenginespeedbefore
stoppingengine.
3. Movethrottlecontrolleverto STOP or OFFposition.
4. Disconnectsparkplugwireandgrounditagainsttheengineto
preventaccidentalstartingwhilethe equipmentis unattended.
TO ENGAGE DRIVE & TINES
1. Forforwardmotionof the wheelsandpowerto thetinespullthe
ForwardClutchBailupagainstthehandlebar.
2. Whentilling,relaxandletthe wheelspullthe machinewhilethe
tinesdig.Walkslowlybehindthe tillerallowingit to moveat its
own pacewhilekeepinga securegripon thehandlebarwithyour
elbowsflexed.
3. Releasethe bailtostoptheforwardmotionof wheelsandtines.
TURNING THE TILLER
1. Practiceturningthe tiller ina level,openarea.Beverycarefulto
keepyourfeetand legsawayfromthetines.
2. To begina turn,liftthe handlebarsuntilthetinesare outof the
groundandtheengineandtinesarebalancedoverthe wheels.
3. Withthe tillerbalanced,pushsidewaysonthehandlebarto steer
inthe directionof theturn.Afterturning,slowlylowerthe tinesinto
the soil to resumetilling.
SETTING THE DEPTH
Becertainsparkplugwire is disconnectedandgroundedagainstthe
enginewhenperforminganyadjustments.
Yoke Forward
Attachthe wheelyokeso thatthewheelsareforward(nearesttotines)
for shallowtilling,cultivatingandtransportby removingtheclevis pin
andcotterpin.SeeFigure14.
