CAMERA FEATURES AND BENEFITS Three Print Formats Flip Flash • You can take three different size pictures: Classic (C), Group/HDTV (H), and Panoramic (P) pictures from the same film cassette. The viewfinder changes to show the selected picture size. • The extension of the flash helps to minimize red eyes in flash pictures and prevents hand obstruction in front of the flash. When the flash is closed, it protects the lens and viewfinder.
Film Status Indicator (FSI) • A highlighted indicator advances from one symbol to another to identify the status of the film inside the cassette. Look for this logo to select a certified photofinisher for developing your film and to assure that you get all the features of the Advanced Photo System.
GETTING STARTED Loading the battery This camera uses one 3 V lithium KODAK KCR2 (or equivalent) Battery that supplies power for all camera operations. 1. Open the battery door (19). • Before you remove the old battery, close the lens cover/ flash. 2. Insert the battery into the chamber as shown. 3. Snap the battery door closed. • After you load a new battery into the camera, you will need to reset the date and time. Date and time This camera has a quartz clock and automatic calendar through the year 2040.
2. Repeatedly press MENU (13) until the blinking “date format” of your choice appears on the LCD panel (9). • The blinking “E” indicates there is no film in the camera. 3. Press ENTER (14) to set the format. 4. Press SELECT (18) to actuate the setting for month. 5. Repeatedly press and/or hold SELECT to select the new number for month. 6. Press ENTER (14) to set the month and to actuate the setting for day. • Press ENTER again if you want to end the selection. 7.
2. Repeatedly press MENU (13) until the time appears on the LCD panel (9). Attaching the camera strap 1. Insert the shorter looped end of the strap behind the Strap post (8). 3. Press SELECT (18) to actuate the setting for hour. 4. Repeatedly press and/or hold SELECT to select the new number for hour. 2. Thread the longer end of the strap through the shorter loop. 5. Press ENTER (14) to set the hour and to actuate the setting for minutes. 3. Pull the strap tight. 6.
CONTROL-BUTTON ACTUATOR You can use the knob on the clasp of the camera strap to actuate the small control buttons on the camera. OTHER BATTERY INFORMATION Low-battery indicator It’s time to replace the battery when — • the Battery symbol (34) “blinks” on the LCD panel (9) or • none of the indicators, except for a steady battery symbol, appears on the LCD panel and the Shutter button (1) cannot be operated. Battery tips • Dispose of battery according to local and national regulations.
• Store the battery in its original packaging prior to use. • Do not use rechargeable batteries. Power shut-off • Remove the battery from the camera when the camera is not going to be used for an extended length of time. To conserve battery power, the camera automatically goes to sleep if it is not operated for more than 2 ½ minutes. You can press any of the control buttons, except for the print-format switch, or close and reopen the Lens cover/flash (2) to awaken the camera.
LOADING THE FILM You can load film into the camera with the camera on or off. 1. Turn the camera upside down and move the Film-door switch (17) to open the Film door (15). • The safety interlocked film door opens only when the film chamber is empty or the film in the camera is completely rewound into the film cassette. 10 2. Insert the film cassette completely into the Film chamber (16). 3 2 4 1 • Make sure the Film Status Indicator (FSI) on the film cassette is at ● (#1 position) for a new cassette.
TAKING PICTURES You can take Classic (C), Group/ HDTV (H)*, and Panoramic (P) pictures on the same film cassette. Your photoprocessing cost may be based on the format size(s) that you use to expose the film. 1. Completely lift up the Lens cover/ flash (2) to raise the flash and to turn on the camera. • The ISO film speed briefly appears on the LCD panel followed by the date. 2. Frame your subject within the Viewfinder eyepiece (11). For a sharp picture, stand at least 1.3 ft (0.4 m) from your subject. 3.
4. Partially press down the Shutter button (1). 5. When the Flash/ camera-ready lamp (10) glows green, fully press down the shutter button to take the picture. • See the Flash/ warning-lamp signals on page 16. Using the focus lock This camera automatically focuses on whatever is within the Auto Focus (AF) circle of the viewfinder eyepiece. To get a sharp picture, make sure the AF circle is on your main subject. If you want to take the picture with the subject positioned outside of the AF circle, use the focus lock as follows: 3. While still partially pressing down on the shutter button, move the camera until your subject is where you want it within the Viewfinder eyepiece (11). 1.
Tips for better pictures • Move close enough to your subject so it fills the viewfinder but not closer than 1.3 ft (0.4 m). • Take pictures at the subject’s level. Kneel down to take pictures of children and pets. • Hold your camera vertically to capture tall, narrow subjects, such as a waterfall, skyscraper, or a single person. • Add interest to your picture by framing it with a tree branch, a window, or even the rails of a fence. • Keep the sun behind you. This provides the best subject illumination.
Flash/camera-ready lamp indicator Fill flash When you partially press down the Shutter button (1) and the Flash/camera-ready lamp (10) glows green, the flash is fully charged and ready for you to take pictures. When in bright sun or when bright light comes from behind the subject, dark shadows (especially on faces) may occur. Use fill flash to lighten these shadows and to add sparkle to your subject’s eyes.
Infinity focus Capture sharp, distant scenery when you take pictures outdoors during the day or through windows. Selecting the flash and picture-taking options 1. Completely lift up the Lens cover/ flash (2) to raise the flash and to turn on the camera. 2. Keep the subject within the distance range for the speed of film in your camera (see Flash-to-subject distance table on page 17). • Don’t take pictures beyond the maximum distance or your pictures will be dark. 3.

SETTING THE PRINT TITLE AND LANGUAGE 3. Repeatedly press and/or hold SELECT to select a title number. See the Titleselect list on page 19. You can choose a print title from one of 10 pre-programmed titles and a language (6 options) before you take the picture. The title you select is recorded on the film’s magnetic data strip. At certified Advanced Photo System labs, the title is printed on the back of your photograph. 1.

Manual rewind CARING FOR YOUR CAMERA If you do not want to take pictures on the entire film, you can manually start the automatic rewind. • Protect the camera from dust, moisture, sudden impact, and excessive heat. 1. Gently press the Film-rewind button (12) with the control-button actuator on the camera strap to start the automatic rewind. CAUTION: Do not use solvents or harsh or abrasive cleaners on the camera body.

FONCTIONS ET AVANTAGES DE L’APPAREIL-PHOTO Trois formats de photo • Vous avez le choix de trois formats de photo différents sur une même cassette de film : classique (C), groupe/HDTV (H) ou panoramique (P). Le cadre apparaissant dans le viseur se modifie en fonction du format sélectionné.
Chargement instantané simple Indicateur de l’état du film • Le chargement instantané simple, rapide et pratiquement exempt d’erreurs élimine les rouleaux vierges ou réexposés. L’appareil fonctionne avec des Films KODAK ADVANTIX. Contrairement aux cartouches de film classique 35 mm, la cassette de film joue un rôle de contenant de transport et d’entreposage une fois le film traité. • Un voyant passe d’un symbole à l’autre pour indiquer l’état du film à l’intérieur de la cassette.
DÉMARRAGE Installation de la pile Cet appareil-photo utilise une Pile au lithium KODAK KCR2 (ou l’équivalent) de 3 volts qui fournit l’alimentation nécessaire à toutes les fonctions de l’appareil. 3. Réglage de l’heure Cet appareil-photo est doté d’une horloge qui indique l’heure sur un cycle de 12 heures et affiche l’indicateur PM. 1. Soulevez complètement le couvreobjectif/flash (2) pour relever le flash et mettre l’appareil-photo sous tension. 2. Appuyez de façon répétée sur le bouton MENU (13) jusqu’à ce que l’heure apparaisse sur le panneau ACL (9). 5.
5. Appuyez sur SAISIE (ENTER) (14) pour enregistrer l’heure et actionner le réglage des minutes. 3. Tirez fermement. 6. Répétez les étapes 3 et 4 pour parachever le réglage de l’heure. • Par défaut, l’appareil-photo affiche la date, mais vous pouvez voir l’heure en appuyant sur MENU. Fixation de la courroie 1. Enfilez la plus courte des boucles de la courroie sous œillet de la courroie (8). 2. Faites ensuite glisser la longue boucle de la courroie dans la petite boucle.
AUTRES RENSEIGNEMENTS SUR LES PILES Indicateur de pile faible Il faut remplacer la pile lorsque — • le symbole de la pile (34) clignote sur le panneau ACL (9) ou • aucun des indicateurs, à l’exception du symbole fixe de la pile, n’apparaît sur le panneau ACL et que le déclencheur (1) ne peut être actionné. Conseils au sujet des piles • Jetez la pile conformément aux réglementations locales et nationales. • Ayez toujours une pile de rechange avec vous.
Fonctions automatiques d’économie d’énergie Arrêt automatique Cet appareil-photo se met automatiquement en mode veille après plus de 2 ½ minutes d’inactivité pour préserver l’énergie de la pile. Pour réactiver l’appareil-photo, il vous suffit d’appuyer sur n’importe quel bouton de commande, à l’exception du sélecteur du format de photo, ou de fermer et de rouvrir le couvreobjectif/flash (2).

Conseils pour prendre de meilleures photos • Approchez-vous suffisamment de votre sujet pour qu’il remplisse bien le viseur, sans toutefois vous placer à moins de 0,4 m (1,3 pi). • Placez-vous au même niveau que votre sujet.
OPTIONS DE FLASH ET DE PRISE DE VUE Indicateur du flash/appareilphoto prêt Outre le mode flash automatique (mode par défaut), vous pouvez choisir les modes flash d’appoint, flash désactivé, mise au point à l’infini sans flash et vue nocturne avec flash. Lorsque vous enfoncez partiellement le déclencheur (1) et que le témoin du flash/ appareil-photo prêt (10) passe au vert, le flash est entièrement chargé et prêt pour la photo.
Flash d’appoint Mise au point à l’infini À l’intérieur ou à l’extérieur, la lumière vive projetée sur des sujets éclairés à contre-jour peut créer des ombres marquées (en particulier sur les visages). Pour adoucir ces ombres et faire briller les yeux de vos sujets, il suffit d’utiliser le flash d’appoint. Saisissez nettement des scènes éloignées à la lumière du jour, de l’extérieur ou à travers une fenêtre. Flash désactivé 1.
4. Cadrez bien votre sujet dans l’oculaire du viseur (11). 5. Enfoncez partiellement le déclencheur (1). Lorsque le témoin du flash/appareil-photo prêt (10) passe au vert, appuyez complètement sur le déclencheur pour prendre la photo. La sélection des modes de flash, de mise au point et de vue nocturne à l’infini demeurent sélectionnés une fois la photo prise.
UTILISATION DU RETARDATEUR 4. Regardez dans l’oculaire du viseur (11) pour composer la photo, et prévoyez de la place pour vous. Utilisez ce mode si vous souhaitez vous inclure dans la photo. 5. Appuyez sur le déclencheur (1). 1. Utilisez l’écrou du trépied (21) pour fixer l’appareil-photo sur un trépied, ou placez l’appareil sur une surface stable. 2. Soulevez complètement le couvreobjectif/flash (2) pour relever le flash et mettre l’appareil-photo sous tension. 3. Appuyez sur SAISIE (ENTER) (14). 6.
RÉGLAGE DU TITRE ET DE LA LANGUE Avant de prendre une photo, vous pouvez sélectionner un titre de photo parmi les 10 titres préprogrammés ainsi que la langue d’usage (6 choix offerts). Le titre choisi est enregistré sur la bande magnétique de données du film, puis imprimé au dos des photos par les laboratoires certifiés APS. 1. Appuyez et maintenez enfoncé le bouton MENU (13) jusqu’à ce que l’indicateur de titre (32) apparaisse sur le panneauACL (9). 2. Appuyez sur SÉLECTION (SELECT) (18).
6. Appuyez sur SAISIE (ENTER) pour enregistrer la langue et terminer la sélection. • La langue et le titre de la photo demeurent sélectionnés une fois la photo prise. • Pour annuler le titre choisi pour les photos subséquentes, suivez les étapes 1 à 3, en indiquant toutefois « _ _ » (aucun titre) ou un autre titre à l’étape 3.
RETRAIT DU FILM Rembobinage manuel Rembobinage automatique Si vous ne souhaitez pas prendre toutes les photos du film, vous pouvez activer manuellement le dispositif de rembobinage automatique. Une fois la dernière photo prise, l’appareilphoto rembobine automatiquement le film dans la cassette. 1. Attendez que le film soit complètement rembobiné dans la cassette et que le moteur de l’appareil-photo s’arrête. • Lorsque le moteur s’arrête, le compteur de poses (35) indique « 0 ». 1.
ENTRETIEN DE VOTRE APPAREIL-PHOTO • Protégez votre appareil-photo de la poussière, de l’humidité, des chocs et de la chaleur excessive. ATTENTION : N’utilisez pas de solvants ni de produits rugueux ou abrasifs pour nettoyer le boîtier de l’appareil-photo. • Si l’objectif est sale, placez-le devant votre bouche, puis expirez légèrement pour former une légère buée; nettoyez ensuite à l’aide d’un linge doux, sans charpie, ou d’un tissu nettoyant pour objectif. N’essuyez jamais un objectif à sec.
