Because
the
light
rays
reflected
from
the
subject
cross as
they
pass
through
th
e
camera
lens,
the
left
side of
the
subject
is
recorded
on
the
right
side
of
the
film
and
the
top of
the
subject
is
recorded
on
th
e bot-
tom
of
the
film.
Remember
this simple
rule:
Always
place the solid part
of
the
mask
on
the same side
as
the subject
you
wish to
re
co
rd.
For
example,
if
th
e
subj ect is on
the
left side (as viewed through the
front finder) ,
pla
ce
the
solid
part
of
th
e
mask
on
the left as it is
inserted
into
the
slot.
When
you
are
using
th
e
horizontal
masks, use
the
mask
with
the
solid
part
at
th
e top
for
photo
gra
phing
subjects
that
appear
at
the
top of
the
front
finder.
Place
the
mask
in
the
slot
in
the
film
chamber
with
the
pin
toward
th
e reflex find
er
.
Push
the
mask
into
the
slot as
far
as
it
will go so
that
the
pin
fits
in
the
recess
in
the
slot.
