1 Getting started Welcome to your KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Frame. Viewing and sharing your pictures couldn’t be simpler! Setting up your frame Setting up the stand Pull to adjust the frame angle for best viewing When displayed with the stand extended, the frame rests at a 68 - 76 degree angle. Getting started Attaching the power cable CAUTION: Do not use this power cable with other devices, including digital cameras. ■ Your power cable may look different from the one pictured. Use the plug that accommodates your type of power outlet. ■ The battery charges whenever the frame is connected to AC power. Leave connected for at least 3 hours for full charge. For more about charging and using battery power, see page 11. 2 www.kodak.
Getting started Turning your frame on and off Power button - press and hold (for about 2 seconds), then release Your frame retains information (like the time) when you turn it off but leave the power cable plugged in. NOTE: Your frame may have a pre-loaded video or pictures, which start playing if you don’t have your own pictures loaded (on a memory card, USB device, or copied into internal memory). You cannot delete the preloaded video or pictures. www.kodak.
Getting started Navigating using the Quick Touch Borders IMPORTANT: The display screen is not touch-sensitive. Do not touch it. Instead, tap the lights in the right and bottom borders. Right border tap lights Right border icons Menu Play Up Down move thru the menus and thumbnail rows OK or (Select) or (Picture Finder) Bottom border tap arrow lights or slide to move forward or backward thru pictures Hover within 1 - 3 in. (2.5 - 7.6 cm) of any border to turn on the lights.
Getting started Touch the lights—not the screen Only the lights on the right and bottom Quick Touch Borders are touch-sensitive. The screen and other borders are not. So, for example, when this guide says “Tap the up arrow DO Tap the light ": DON’T Tap the screen Tapping on the right border ■ Tap the light next to an icon to select it. Icons change color when they’re selected. ■ Tap the light next to the up/down arrows to move up or down through menus or rows of thumbnails.
Getting started Setting your language The language screen appears the first time you turn on your frame. ■ Tap the light next to an up/down arrow highlight your language, then tap OK. to To change the language at a later time: 1 Tap (Menu). Tap the down arrow to highlight (Settings); tap the down arrow to highlight Language, then tap OK. The language screen appears. 2 Tap an up/down arrow to highlight your language, then tap OK. Getting started Setting the clock, date, and timer If this is the first time you turned on your frame, the Clock and Date screen appears automatically after you select your language. Follow steps 3, 4, and 6 below. To change or set the clock, date, and automatic timer later, follow all the steps below. 1 Tap OK. (Menu), then tap the down arrow to highlight (Settings). Tap 2 Tap the down arrow to highlight Clock and Date, then tap OK. 3 Set the clock.
Getting started c Tap the down arrow to highlight Turn Frame Off At, then slide or tap between the left/right arrow lights to select the Off time (based on a 24-hour clock). 6 Tap OK to save your settings and close the Menu screen. To close the screen without saving, highlight Exit, then tap OK. If your frame loses power for an extended period of time (longer than 12 hours), the clock time returns to the factory setting, and the automatic on/off times, if set, are disabled.
Getting started Connecting a computer or USB device Connect to a computer USB cable included Supported USB devices include a computer, flash drive, card reader, hard drive*, etc. USB devices are sold separately. *External hard drives must be self-powered. Connect a USB device www.kodak.
Getting started Installing the software The CD that was packaged with your frame contains two applications that work well independently, but also work together for the best experience with your frame: KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Display Software —manage your frame right from your computer, and use the Sync feature to copy all your pictures from your computer to your frame’s internal memory (see page 16). ■ KODAK EASYSHARE Software —organize, edit, and share your pictures.
Getting started Charging the battery Your frame’s rechargable battery was installed at the factory. Charging ■ Plug the frame in and leave the power connected for at least 3 hours. The battery automatically charges when the AC power adapter is connected. You don’t need to turn the frame on. Using battery power ■ Because the battery may be fully discharged when you unpack your frame, you must charge the battery for at least 3 hours before running the frame on battery power.
2 Viewing pictures and videos View pictures from your frame’s internal memory or any connected picture source (memory card, USB device). Enjoying your pictures immediately! To view your pictures or play a slide show, insert a memory card or other USB device (see page 8). Your pictures play automatically. NOTE: Your frame may have a pre-loaded video or pictures, which start playing if you don’t have your own pictures loaded (on a memory card, USB device, or copied into internal memory).
Viewing pictures and videos Viewing your pictures and videos View your pictures and videos from the frame’s internal memory or any connected picture source. 1 Tap (Menu), then tap (Pictures & Videos). All connected sources and internal memory are listed. 2 Tap an up/down arrow source, then: Up/down arrows to highlight a picture ■ Tap (Play) to start playback of the pictures in the highlighted source. ■ Or, tap OK to view thumbnails of the pictures in the highlighted source.
Viewing pictures and videos – When Shuffle is off, pictures and videos play according to your Display Picture Order By setting, see page 33. The default is Old to new. ■ You can change the duration (how long each picture stays on the screen) and transition style between pictures. See Changing frame settings, page 31. ■ Pictures play continuously until you turn off the frame or change modes.
Viewing pictures and videos Viewing pictures in collage mode View a revolving four-picture slide show. Press the Mode button to play your pictures in collage mode . Mode button ■ Tap the right border to pause play and highlight the current picture. While play is paused: ■ Tap a right/left arrow to highlight a different picture in the collage. ■ Tap OK to display the highlighted picture in full screen, single view. ■ Tap (Menu) to access the main menu options (see page 21).
Viewing pictures and videos Copying your computer’s entire picture collection Use the Sync (synchronize) feature in KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Display Software to create a collection of all the pictures and videos on your computer, and copy the collection into your frame’s internal memory. As the collection is created, the pictures are resized to a lower resolution so they will fit on the frame. Videos are copied at full resolution. 1st step, install the software ■ Install the software (see page 10).
Viewing pictures and videos 3rd step, copy or view your collection on the frame ■ If you selected the frame to Sync to, disconnect your frame from the computer. To view the collection on your frame, tap Menu Memory. Then select the Sync folder and tap ■ Pictures & Videos (Play). Internal If you selected a removable device to Sync to, remove the device from your computer and insert it in the frame.
Viewing pictures and videos 4 Tap the light next to the Picture Finder button . Pictures that were taken on the same day as the selected picture begin playing. NOTE: Videos and multimedia slide shows do not play in Collage mode. Viewing thumbnails While pictures are playing or from a single view: 1 Tap a touch border to display the icons, then tap (Menu). 2 Tap (Thumbnails). NOTE: You can also display thumbnails from the Pictures & Videos source list (see page 13).
Viewing pictures and videos Viewing a single picture ■ ■ To view a single, full-screen picture, highlight it in thumbnails view, then tap OK. ■ Or, when a slide show is playing, tap the right border. The slide show pauses and the picture in view is displayed. Tap OK to hide the icons and lights. Tap Picture Finder to start a slide show of pictures taken on the same day as the displayed picture (see Picture Finder—auto-play similar pictures, page 17).
Viewing pictures and videos Saving a default play location Save the picture source where you usually store your favorite pictures (internal memory, memory card, USB drive, etc.) as your default go-to location. 1 While viewing pictures, tap a Quick Touch Border. Play is paused and the lights and screen icons appear. 2 Tap (Menu), then 3 Tap an up/down arrow (Settings). to highlight Default play location. 4 Tap the up/down arrows to highlight an option: Yes—to confirm.

Doing more with your frame Selecting multiple pictures Use the multi-select feature to copy, delete, or rotate multiple pictures at once. Or select just the pictures you want to play in a slide show. 1 Tap (Menu), then tap the down arrow highlight Multi-Select. Doing more with your frame Copying on your frame Copy pictures, videos, and music from your current viewing location to other connected devices (see page 8). For example, copy pictures from a memory card* into your frame’s internal memory. * HINT: Share your favorite digital pictures from your camera or computer. Take the memory card out of your camera or computer, then insert it in your frame for easy copying to internal memory.
Doing more with your frame Rotating pictures and videos 1 Highlight a picture in thumbnails view (see page 18) or display it in single view (see page 19). To select multiple pictures, see page 23. 2 Tap (Menu), then tap 3 Tap an up/down arrow tap OK. (Rotate). to highlight the direction and degree of rotation, then Highlight Exit and tap OK to return to the picture without rotating it.
Doing more with your frame Playing music Play MP3 files with your pictures and videos. NOTE: A headphone jack (audio out) is available on the side of the frame (see page i). Play music automatically Your frame automatically plays music (MP3 files) in the background with your pictures and videos. The music files must be in the same picture source (internal memory, memory card, USB drive) as the pictures and videos. Play music manually 1 Set Music auto-play to Off. See the Settings menus, page 31.
Doing more with your frame Working with music files on your frame The Music menu lets you work with your music files. 1 Tap OK. (Menu), then tap the down arrow to highlight Music 2 Tap (Menu) again to display the Music menus: , then tap Music menu options Description Copy/Delete Tap an up/down arrow to highlight songs in the music list, then tap Menu. Tap an up/down arrow to highlight Copy or Delete, then tap OK.
Doing more with your frame Creating and playing a multimedia slide show Use KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Display Software on your computer to create a multimedia slide show with pictures and music (WINDOWS OS only). Then copy the slide show to your frame. Before you proceed, make sure you install or download the Digital Display Software (see Installing the software, page 10). Creating a multimedia slide show 1 Double-click the KODAK EASYSHARE Digital Display Software icon on your desktop to open the software .
Doing more with your frame 3 Insert the card or USB drive into your frame. Follow the directions for copying on page 24. Playing a multimedia slide show on your frame 1 Tap (Menu), then tap Slide Shows. 2 Highlight a slide show icon, then tap (Play). The slide show begins playing. Changing your frame orientation Your frame is set up to display pictures and videos in landscape orientation . To change the orientation to portrait , simply turn the frame on its side and rotate the stand 90 degrees.
Doing more with your frame Hanging your frame on the wall To hang your frame on the wall, close the stand, then use wall anchoring hardware (not included) to securely mount the frame to the wall. See Back View, page ii for the location of the mounting holes. 30 www.kodak.
4 Changing settings and more Changing frame settings The options in the Settings menu let you customize and configure your frame. IMPORTANT: You may need to keep tapping the up/down arrows to see the complete list of available options. 1 Tap (Menu), then tap 2 Tap the up/down arrows (Settings). to highlight a setting, then tap OK. 3 Follow the on-screen instructions. Tap OK to accept your selections. 4 Tap (Play) to return to playback from the current image. Tap return to the top level menu.
Changing settings and more Setting Options Transition Specify the transition style between pictures during playback. See screen for options. The default is Random. Default Play Location Yes—confirm the current picture source as your default go-to Save the current picture source location. as your default go-to location. No—exit the menu. Clear My Default Play Location—delete reference to the currently designated picture source. See Saving a default play location, page 20.
Changing settings and more Setting Options Automatic Resizing This setting applies when you copy pictures into the frame’s internal memory. Copies are automatically resized to a lower resolution (smaller size). NOTE: Videos are always copied at full resolution. On (default)—copy pictures to internal memory at a lower resolution (smaller size). Off—copy pictures to internal memory at full resolution. See page 24. Full resolution is unnecessary for viewing and quickly fills up the frame’s memory.
Changing settings and more Setting Options Audio Options Configure how your music plays. For more about playing music on your frame, see page 26. Shuffle play—play songs in random order. The choices are On (default), and Off. Audio priority—when music and a video are playing at the same time, choose whether or not to play the audio portion of the video. The choices are: Play video sound track (default): music stops playing while the video, with audio, plays.
Changing settings and more Upgrading your firmware (recommended) Firmware is the software that runs on your frame. To check for the latest version, visit www.kodak.com/go/digitalframedownloads. Download the firmware to your computer, then upgrade your frame: 1 On your computer, go to www.kodak.com/go/digitalframedownloads. 2 Follow the screen directions to download the frame firmware to your computer.
Changing settings and more Maintaining your frame IMPORTANT: Always disconnect the power before cleaning. Do not use water, cleaning solutions, or other adhesives on the frame or any of its parts. Gently wipe the frame and screen with a clean, dry, lint-free cloth. For fingerprints on the frame, apply light pressure. Try one or more of the following Frame does not turn on. ■ Make sure the power cable that was included with your frame is connected securely (see page 2). ■ Unplug the power cable for 5 seconds, then reconnect the cable. Press and hold the power button (for about 2 seconds), then release.

Troubleshooting and support Resetting the clock and calendar after losing power If you turn off the power on the frame or otherwise lose power for longer than 12 hours, the clock and calendar return to the factory setting and the automatic on/off times, if set, are disabled. When you turn the frame back on, the Clock and Date screen appears. 1 Set the clock. Tap the arrow lights or slide to select the current time (based on a 24-hour clock). 2 Set the date.
Troubleshooting and support Screen messages Screen message Try one or more of the following File is bad. (usually preceded by the file name. For example: xxx_xxxx.JPG file is bad) The frame is unable to display the picture or video because the file is corrupted or it’s an unsupported file format (see page 42). Create file failed. NOTE: HD videos are not supported. An MOV video, in HD, will not play even though the MOV format is supported. The device (memory card, USB drive, etc.

Appendix Replacing the battery To purchase a replacement battery (model KAA3HR-2300), visit www.kodak.com/go/accessories. Remove the existing battery 1 Disconnect the power cable. 2 Place the frame screen-down on a flat, protected surface. Rotate the stand away from the battery door. Remove the screw. 3 Remove the battery door. 4 www.kodak.com/go/support Slide the battery out and unplug the connector. Pull on the connector, not the wires.
Appendix Install the new battery 5 Plug in the connector. Slide the battery into the cavity. Make sure the connector is fully seated and the battery orientation matches the picture. 6 Fit the battery door tab into the slot in the frame body, then snap the door into place. 7 Replace the screw. 8 Charge the battery—plug in the power cord and leave connected for at least 3 hours. 46 www.kodak.
Appendix Limited warranty Kodak warrants KODAK Consumer Electronic Products and Accessories (“Products”), excluding batteries, to be free from malfunctions and defects in both materials and workmanship for one year from the date of purchase. Retain the original dated sales receipt. Proof of the date of purchase will be required with any request for warranty repair. Limited warranty coverage Warranty service is only available from within the country where the Products were originally purchased.

In the event that the exclusion of any implied warranty is ineffective under the law, the duration of the implied warranty will be one year from the purchase date or such longer period as required by law.
