Setting up your camera Storing pictures on an SD or SDHC card Your camera has internal memory. You can purchase an SD or SDHC card to conveniently store more pictures/videos. CAUTION: A card can only be inserted one way; forcing it may cause damage. Inserting or removing a card while the camera is on may damage the pictures, the card, or the camera. Formatting internal memory or an SD/SDHC card deletes all (including protected) pictures/videos. 1 Turn off the camera. 2 Insert or remove the optional card.
2 Taking pictures/videos Taking a picture 1 Press the Power button to turn on the camera. The camera turns on in Smart Capture mode. 2 Compose a picture. 3 Press the Shutter button halfway to focus and set exposure. When the framing marks turn green, press the Shutter button completely down. Framing marks NOTE: You can repeatedly press Info to turn on/off controls and status icons.

Taking pictures/videos Using Scene (SCN) modes Choose a Scene mode—for great pictures in practically any situation! 1 Tap Mode. The capture modes are displayed. 2 Tap SCN. Tap Mode. 3 Tap a SCN mode to view its description. (Tap to view other SCN modes.) When you’ve chosen the desired SCN mode, tap OK. SCN mode For Portrait Full-frame portraits of people. Sport Subjects that are in motion. Landscape Distant scenes. Close-up Close range. Use available light instead of flash, if possible.
Taking pictures/videos SCN mode For Backlight Subjects in shadow or “backlit” (when light is behind the subject). Panning Shot Shooting a fast-moving subject. The background gives the sense of movement, while the subject appears still. Candle Light Subjects illuminated by candle light. Sunset Subjects at dusk. Panorama L-R, R-L See page 39. Blur Reduction Reducing blur caused by camera shake or subject motion. Taking a video 1 Tap Mode. 2 Tap Video. The camera enters Video mode.
Taking pictures/videos Using the flash Open the Settings panel 1 In any Still mode, open the Settings panel. Tap the Flash setting 2 Tap Flash repeatedly, until the desired setting appears at the bottom of the LCD. (See the table, below.) 3 Compose the scene. Press the Shutter button halfway, then completely down. Flash modes Flash fires Auto When the lighting conditions require it. Fill Every time you take a picture, regardless of the lighting conditions.
Taking pictures/videos Using the self-timer Use the self-timer when you want to be included in a picture, or to ensure a steady Shutter button press. Place the camera on a tripod or flat surface. Self-timer/Burst 1 In any Still mode, tap Settings to open the Settings panel. 2 Tap Self-Timer/Burst repeatedly, until the desired Self-timer icon appears at the bottom of the LCD: 10 seconds—A picture is taken after a 10-second delay (so you have time to get into the scene).

NOTE: Focus modes are not available in Smart Capture mode because focus distance is automatically selected. 1 Tap Settings to open the Settings panel. This feature is only available immediately after you delete a picture/video. Protecting pictures/videos from deletion 1 Press the Review button. 2 Tap for previous/next. 3 Press the Menu button. 4 Tap Protect. The picture/video is protected. The Protect icon appears with the protected picture/video. Favorites automatically receive a Protect tag.

Recording a sound tag 1 Press the Review button, then tap for previous/next. 2 Press the Menu button, then tap the Edit tab. 3 Tap Sound Tag. 4 Tap Record. 5 Follow the screen prompts. The sound tag is applied to your picture. ■ To exit, tap X in the top right corner of the LCD.

Perfect Touch is automatically applied to pictures taken in Smart Capture mode. (You cannot enhance videos, panoramic pictures, pictures that are already enhanced, or pictures taken in Smart Capture mode.) 1 Press the Review button. 2 Tap for previous/next picture. 3 Press the Menu button, then tap the Edit tab. Touch Perfect Touch tech.
Working with pictures/videos Trimming a video You can trim an unwanted start or end from a video, saving only the desired portion. 1 Press the Review button, then tap previous/next. Video Trimmed video for 2 Press the Menu button, then tap the Edit Tap Trim. tab. 3 Follow the screen prompts. The video is trimmed. (You can save it as a new video or replace the original.) Making a video action print From a video, you can make a 4-, 9-, or 16-up picture, suitable for a 4 x 6-inch (10 x 15 cm) print.
Working with pictures/videos Using video bookmarks You can set bookmarks at interesting places in your video, then jump from one bookmark to another. Setting bookmarks 1 Press the Review button, then tap previous/next. for 2 Press the Menu button, then tap the Edit Tap Bookmark, then tap Create/Edit. tab. 3 Tap Bookmark to add bookmarks. When finished adding up to 9 bookmarks, tap . ■ To exit, tap X in the top right corner of the LCD. Using bookmarks 1 Press the Review button, then tap previous/next.
Working with pictures/videos Running a slide show Use Slide Show to display your pictures/videos on the LCD. NOTE: If you have a Kodak EasyShare HDTV dock, see its Getting Started Guide. 1 Press the Review button. 2 Press the Menu button, then tap the Review tab. 3 Tap Slide Show, then tap Begin Show. Each picture/video is displayed once. To interrupt the Slide Show, tap OK. Changing the slide show display interval The default interval setting displays each picture for 5 seconds.
Working with pictures/videos Choosing a slide show transition Choose how the slide show transitions from one picture to another. 1 On the Slide Show menu, tap Transition. 2 Tap a transition, then tap X in the top right corner of the LCD. Running a multimedia slide show Multimedia Slide Show is similar to Slide Show, but also offers music and visual effects. First, select 2-20 pictures (see page 29). Then: 1 Press the Review button. 2 Press the Menu button, tap the Review tab. Tap Multimedia Slide Show.

You can display pictures/videos on a television, computer monitor, or any device equipped with a video input.

NOTE: Pictures/videos are copied, not moved. To remove pictures/videos from the original location after copying, delete them (see page 17).

Only the panoramic picture is saved; individual pictures are not. (Exposure and white balance are set with the first picture. The flash is set to Off.) 1 Open the Main menu. Tap Mode, then Tap SCN (Scene). 2 Tap Panorama Left-Right or Panorama Right-Left (depending on the direction you want to pan), then tap OK. 3 Take the first picture.
Doing more with your camera Using exposure compensation to adjust picture brightness Before you take a picture, you can adjust exposure compensation to make pictures darker or lighter. (Exposure compensation is not available in Smart Capture mode.) Exposure compensation Tap the exposure compensation value to display controls. Tap to adjust to decrease exposure compensation. The exposure compensation level is shown on the LCD; the LCD gets brighter or dimmer.
Doing more with your camera Using the framing grid to compose a picture The framing grid divides the LCD into thirds—vertically and horizontally. This is helpful if, for example, you want to balance a picture between water, earth, and sky. To turn on the framing grid in Smart Capture/SCN mode, press the Info button until the grid appears. www.kodak.

Installing the software 1 Close all open software applications before starting the installation. NOTE: If running Windows OS and installing EasyShare software from the Kodak Web site, do not close the WinZip application. If prompted, allow EasyShare software to access the Internet.

Transferring, printing, tagging Direct printing with an EasyShare all-in-one printer Your camera is compatible with PictBridge technology, so you can print directly to PictBridge enabled printers. You need: a camera with fully charged battery, a PictBridge enabled printer, and a USB cable. Connecting the camera to an EasyShare all-in-one printer 1 Turn off the camera and printer. 2 Connect the appropriate USB cable from the camera to the printer. See your printer user guide for details.
Transferring, printing, tagging Disconnecting the camera from an EasyShare all-in-one printer 1 Turn off the camera and printer. 2 Disconnect the USB cable from the camera and the printer. Tap for previous/next, then tap the picture. 2 Press the Menu button, then tap Email. 3 Tap to scroll through email addresses.

NOTE: To add a tag name, use the Add Tag option, then use the on-camera keyboard. 4 Tap a Tag name. To tag other pictures, tap to scroll through pictures. The tag name appears with the picture. A plus (+) means the picture has more than one tag.
