VINYL TILING-IN BEAD INSTRUCTIONS
1. There is enough vinyl bead supplied for either the K-9852 (60”
x 36”) or K-9861 (48” x 36”) receptor. Some cutting will be
required.
2. The vinyl bead takes the place of the tiling-in flange on the
side(s) of the receptor and is necessary to prevent water from
seeping into the framing. The installation kit contains a 7’ vinyl
bead and a 12’ strip of pressure-sensitive sealing tape.
3. Apply bead just before installing receptor into position. Clean
all dust, grease, and foreign material from receptor rim.
4. Temporarily position bead for measuring and proper installation
(see illustration) without using sealing tape. Bead should start
3/4” back from front corner and extend along the rim all the way
to the integral tiling-in flange at the rear of the receptor.
CAUTION: Do not apply vinyl tile bead or pressure-sensi-
tive tape in temperatures below 40 F.
5. Cut the same length(s) of pressure-sensitive tape, also starting
3/4” from front edge of rim. Remove paper backing and carefully
apply tape to the receptor as shown.
6. Start vinyl bead 3/4” in from end of rim. Position bead properly
on the receptor as illustrated. Press bead firmly against sealing
tape for proper sealing. Repeat procedure while working
towards opposite end.
7. After bead is in place, start at the area where it was first applied
and rub bead firmly in place with heel of hand to ensure
continuous seal.
8. The receptor is now ready for installation, leveling, framing, and
application of wall material. Please refer to the installation
instructions included with the receptor for additional instructions.
