FIRMWARE UPDATE
5.1.
Introduction
VP-791 has an USB port which allows a PC connection. With the Kramer PC Updater tool new firmware
can be installed on VP-791 for feature upgrades and bug fixes.
5.2.
Updating Firmware
VP-791 accepts firmware downloads in a dedicated Updater mode. The unit is put in Updater mode by
keeping the Menu key pressed at power up. If the Menu key is released within 10 seconds after power
up VP-791 is in Updater mode. Otherwise, VP-791 is started normally. Whilst the Menu key is still
pressed the 3GSDI input channel LED is flashing. When in Updater mode the 3GSDI input channel LED
is flashing two times repeatedly.
Now the USB connection between PC and VP-791 needs to be established and the Kramer PC Updater
tool to be started. The PC Updater tool allows to browse and select a firmware file in BREC format. The
Update Firmware button has to be pressed and the firmware download to the VP-791 into non volatile
flash RAM. After completion of the download VP-791 needs to be restarted normally (without pressing
the Menu key) for the change to take effect. It is recommended that a factory reset is now performed.
