8.3 Connection variants
The signal converter is a 2-wire device with a passive 4...20 mA current output and a HART
®
interface.
• Point-to-Point is supported

In conventional point-to-point operation, the signal converter communicates as a slave with
the master.
• Multidrop mode is supported

In a multidrop communication system, more than 2 devices are connected to a common
transmission cable.

In the burst operation a slave device transfers cyclic pre-defined response telegrams, to get a
higher rate of data transfer.
There are two ways of using the HART
®
communication:
• as Point-to-Point connection and
• as multidrop connection, with 2-wire connection.
