Mount the cable tie(s).
Position the brake line, wiring harness, and clamp. Mount and tighten screws


Finishing work
Install the front fender. ( p. 60)
Mount the handlebar cushion.
Install the headlight mask with the headlight. ( p. 95)
Check the headlight setting. ( p. 97)
Install the front wheel. ( p. 85)
Check that the wiring harness, throttle cables, and brake and clutch lines can move
freely and are routed correctly.
Check the play of the steering head bearing. ( p. 58)
Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 51)
12.13 Checking the play of the steering head bearing

Danger of accidentsIncorrect steering head bearing play impairs the handling characteristic and damages components.
Correct incorrect steering head bearing play immediately. (Your authorized KTM workshop will be glad to help.)

If the vehicle is operated for a lengthy period with play in the steering head bearing, the bearings and the bearing seats in the
frame can become damaged over time.
Preparatory work
Raise the motorcycle with a lift stand. ( p. 51)

Main work
Move the handlebar to the straight-ahead position. Move the fork legs to and fro in
the direction of travel.
Play should not be detectable on the steering head bearing.
» If there is detectable play:
Adjust the steering head bearing play. ( p. 59)
Move the handlebar to and fro over the entire steering range.
It must be possible to move the handlebar easily over the entire steering range.
There should be no detectable detent positions.
» If detent positions are detected:
Adjust the steering head bearing play. ( p. 59)
Check the steering head bearing and change if necessary.
Finishing work
Remove the motorcycle from the lift stand. ( p. 51)
