TRANSMISSION
Clearance between Gear and Shaft
1.
Measure
the
gear I.D.
with
a cylinder gauge, and
then
shaft
O.D.
with
an
outside micrometer.
2.
Measure
the
O.D.
of
two
needles in
the
needle bearing
with
an
outside micrometer.
3.
Clearance
is
the
difference between
the
gear I.D. and
the
sum
of
shaft O.D. and
two
needles O.D
..
4.
Ifthe
clearance exceeds
the
allowable
limit,
replace it.
