Terminology

Zone
A keyboard region of a Multi that has its own Program,
MIDI channel, and controller assignments.
See About Zones on page 10-6 for more information on
Zones.
Split Multi
A Split Multi is a Multi containing at least two Zones that
have keyboard ranges that don’t overlap. is allows dierent
keyboard ranges to play dierent instrument sounds.

Layer Multi
A Layer Multi is a Multi containing at least two Zones that
have overlapping keyboard ranges. is allows a single
keyboard range to play multiple instrument sounds.

Forte SE Bank
A Forte SE Bank is a group of 256 Programs or Multis that
can be navigated with the Sound Select buttons. On the
main Program Mode or Multi Mode select pages, press the
current Mode button to view the Select Bank page for the
current mode. After selecting a Forte SE Bank on the Select
Bank page, you can use the Sound Select buttons to navigate
within the Bank.
MIDI Bank
A group of 128 Programs that can be navigated by MIDI
compatible software or hardware.
Mode
An operating status with a unique group of operations.
