ThepagesforEnvelopes2and3arereachedwiththesoftbuttonsENV2andENV3.Whenyou
selectthesepages,you’llfindadisplaythatlooksverymuchliketheAMPENVpage.Theonly
differencesarethatyoucanprogramanamountforRel3;theRel1andRel2limits,
whichare
±100%;andintheenvelopegraphic,whichhasadottedlinerunninghorizontallyacrossthe
display.Thisisthezerolevelline;negativelevelvaluesforthevariousenvelopesegmentswill
causetheenvelopegraphictodipbelowthisline.

Thecolumnontheleftliststhethree
sectiontypesoftheamplitudeenvelope,andeachcorrespondinglineliststhevaluesforthefive
DSPcontrolparametersthatareavailableforeachsectiontype.TheDSPcontrolparametersare:
Adjust,Keytracking,Velocitytracking,andSource/Depth,whicharelistedat
thetopofeach
correspondingcolumn.WhenAMPENVissettoUsermode,theAttackandReleasesectionson
thispageapplytotheattackandreleasesectionsontheAMPENVpage.It’simportanttokeepin
mindthatthevaluesforthe variousparametersarecumulative,meaningthatiffor
exampleyou
setattacktobecontrolledbyKeytrkandVelTrk,theresultingchangeonAttackwouldbe
affectedbythecombinationofthevaluesproducedbyKeyTrkandVelTrk.Alsonotethatunlike
previousKurzweilmodels,ENVCTLdoesaffecttheattacksectionsofnaturalenvelopes.
Additionally,thebottomline
ofthispageletsyoumakeuseoftheImpactfeature,whichlets
youboostorcuttheamplitud e ofthefirst20millisecond sofanote’sattack.
Theparametersandvaluesinthefollowingparameterslist(seebelow)applytoeachofthethree
envelopesections—attack,decay,andrelease.We’ll
describethemonlyonce,sincetheir
functionsarelargelythesameforeachenvelopesection.Theonlydifferenceiswithvelocity
tracking,whichisonlyavailableasaparametertocontrolattacksectionsoftheamplitude
envelope(however,youcanassignattackvelocityasthevaluefortheSou rceparameter
ineach
ofthesections).
Thevaluesofeachoftheseparametersmultiplytheratesoftheenvelopesectionstheycontrol.
Valuesgreaterthan1.000xmaketheenvelopesectionsrunfaster(theyincreasetherate),while
valueslessthan1.000xmaketheenvelopesectionsrunslower.Sayforexamplethaton
the
currentlayer’sAMPENVpageyouhadsettheDecaysection’stimeat2.00seconds,anditslevel
at0%.Thissetsthelayer’samplitudetofadetosilencetwosecondsafterthecompletionofthe
lastattacksegment.Thedecaytimeistwoseconds;thedecayrateis
50%persecond.Nowifyou
selecttheENVCTLpageandsettheDecayAdjustparametertoavalueof2.000x,you’ve
increasedthedecayratebyafactoroftwo,makingittwiceasfast.Therateincreasesto100%per
second,andthedecaytimeisnowone
secondinsteadoftwo.
